NO TOMES LA RUTA CORTA
¿Alguna vez han oído de los pasajes o grietas en el campo magnético que traen seres de otro mundo al nuestro? Pues, en mi pueblo existe un camino doble en el cual uno de ellos está repleto de esos seres endemoniados que solo quieren atormentarte hasta morir; le llaman "la ruta corta". Un camino en donde con cada paso que des más profundo en el bosque, te toparás con miles de los seres más horribles que puedas imaginar. Los turistas suelen tomarlo ya que piensan que llegarán más rápido a su destino, sin embargo, su nombre no es debido a que el camino sea corto sino que su muerte está más cerca de lo que cree.
Desde las montañas puedes escuchar los gritos de las personas que se atreven a atravesar el camino, todas las noches olemos la carne que cocinan los demonios; carne humana de su nueva presa. Se dice que hubo una vez una niña hace 20 años que se perdió en el bosque y tomó la ruta corta, los demonios no tuvieron piedad de ella y le quitaron la piel de su cuerpo estando viva, le comieron los órganos y su esqueleto lo colgaron de adorno en los árboles como advertencia, y aun así, las personas se atreven a pasar por su ruta.
Todo inició en 1570 con la batalla de dos poderosas brujas, con tanto poder abrieron una grieta donde demonios comenzaron a salir de ella matando a una de las brujas, cuando la otra se dio cuenta lanzó un encantamiento en el cual ningún demonio podría salir de aquella ruta para que no se esparcieran; desde entonces ningún habitante del pueblo se atreve a cruzarse por ese camino sangriento y putrefacto.
Pero como siempre hay un valiente o entrometido que piensa que puede hacer algo para acabar con la grieta. Según la leyenda, existe un hechizo para tapar la grieta el cual la última bruja no logró terminar ya que la asesinaron igual. Aquel hombre valiente (y tal vez estúpido) soy yo; Joseph Palma, un ordinario pueblerino de ya unos 50 años, que busca vengarse de los demonios que mataron a mi pequeña hija perdida hace más de 20 años atrás. Encontré el hechizo que acabara con la grieta y salvara al resto de las personas. No pude ayudar a mi pequeña Emily, pero salvare a todos los demás en su nombre.
Cuando estoy frente al letrero con el nombre “La ruta corta” y doy los primeros pasos, siento escalofríos recorrer mi espalda, mis manos me tiemblan y escucho voces muy cerca de mi oído. De repente, veo como la piel de mis manos comienza a desprenderse y siento un dolor muy fuerte en todo mi cuerpo, la sangre me sale por los oídos y siento que estoy a punto de desmayarme. Si no puedo completar la misión, al menos hare algo para que nadie más pase por aquí.
Corro hacia el letrero y escribo con sangre lo que serían mis últimas palabras antes de que los demonios me atraparan y mataran: “NO TOMES LA RUTA CORTA”

Have you ever heard of the passages or cracks in the magnetic field that bring beings from another world to ours? Well, in my town there is a double path in which one of them is full of those demonic beings that only want to torment you to death; they call it "the short Way". A road where with every step you take deeper into the forest, you will encounter thousands of the most horrible beings you can imagine. Tourists usually take it as they think they will reach their destination faster, however, its name is not because the road is short but because your death is closer than you think.
From the mountains you can hear the screams of the people who dare to cross the road, every night we smell the meat the demons cook; human flesh from their new prey. It is said that there was once a girl 20 years ago who got lost in the forest and took the short Way, the demons had no mercy on her and took the skin off her body while she was still alive, they ate her organs and her skeleton was hung as an ornament in the trees as a warning, and still, people dare to pass through their route.
It all began in 1570 with the battle of two powerful witches, with so much power they opened a crack where demons began to come out of it killing one of the witches, when the other realized she launched an incantation in which no demon could leave that route so that they would not spread; since then no inhabitant of the town dares to cross that bloody and putrid road.
But as always there is a brave or meddling person who thinks he can do something to put an end to the rift. According to legend, there is a spell to plug the rift which the last witch failed to finish as she was killed anyway. That brave (and perhaps stupid) man is me; Joseph Palma, an ordinary country boy in his 50s, seeking revenge on the demons who killed my little lost daughter more than 20 years ago. I found the spell that would end the rift and save the rest of the people. I couldn't help my little Emily, but I will save everyone else on her behalf.
When I am in front of the sign with the name "The Short Way" and I take the first steps, I feel shivers run down my back, my hands shake and I hear voices very close to my ear. Suddenly, I see the skin on my hands start to peel off and I feel a sharp pain throughout my body, blood rushes out of my ears and I feel like I'm about to faint. If I can't complete the mission, at least I will do something so that no one else passes through here.
I run to the sign and write in blood what would be my last words before the demons catch me and kill me: "DON'T TAKE THE SHORT WAY."
