A great way to connect with people is to find a common interest area and cling to that. How your bond with them becomes stronger as you journey along. This is what brought me to the Hive Book club. I have been a writer, not a reader. A writer who had no interest in reading. I evolved and started taking my chances in the reading field. But I’m back home and I am ready to journey to my new adventure in reading.
As I earlier said, reading wasn’t my thing. This has prompted my choice in choosing the two prompts. I can’t go for one because I haven’t read any in 2022. Ha-ha. Now is a new year and I hope to take this new journey seriously. So, I’m going with prompt 2 which is the books I’m ready and willing to read this year. About that, I haven’t chosen which type of books to read. I will just go with the good ones they have recommended so far. I hereby go to share the books I will wish to read in ’23.
#1 Think Like a Monk by Jay Shetty

As a writer, one thing I have mastered is a great introduction that calls readers. I haven’t read this book but when it was recommended, I went in to view it and see what it has for me. This is what I heard him say, “If you want a new idea, read an old book. —attributed to Ivan Pavlov (among others)” I fell in love with this introduction and I made up my mind on that first thought. It is the most interesting book I will choose this year. I hope to make a great read of it.
#2 Born a Crime

Another book that was recommended. I will share my thoughts on how that person saw the book.
“The memoir of one man’s coming-of-age, set during the twilight of apartheid and the tumultuous days of freedom that followed.
Trevor Noah’s unlikely path from apartheid South Africa to the desk indoors for the earliest years of his life, bound by the extreme and often absurd measures his mother took to hide him from a government that could, at any moment, steal him away.
Finally liberated by the end of South Africa’s tyrannical white rule, Trevor and his mother set forth on a grand adventure, living openly and freely and embracing the opportunities won by a centuries-long struggle.
Born a Crime is the story of a mischievous young boy who grows into a restless young man as he struggles to find himself in a world where he was never supposed to exist. It is also the story of that young man’s relationship with his fearless, rebellious, and fervently religious mother—his teammate, a woman determined to save her son from the cycle of poverty, violence, and abuse that would ultimately threaten her.”
That was what the reader said about the book and the part of it that interested me most was the last part of it. how her mother battelled to save her son from poverty and violence. The zeal to succeed and battle whatever will stand in the way. I will make a great read of it.
It’s the start of my reading career. 😂 So, I will take these two for now. I hope I do due diligence to finish it up. When will do I will add others. @shamsudeen13 and @rubilu come and check this out. It ends today though.
