Espero que se encuentren muy bien. Como siempre, es un placer poder venir a este espacio tan especial para hablar de lo que tanto nos apasiona: los libros. Hoy quiero compartirles una reflexión muy personal sobre lo que he aprendido a raíz de un bloqueo lector que he estado atravesando, especialmente en el terreno de la ficción. Y es que, a veces, no sabemos cuánto nos conocemos realmente hasta que nos sentimos desconectadas de aquello que siempre nos ha gustado. Así que, aquí voy con lo que este proceso me ha enseñado:

Today I want to share with you a very personal reflection on what I've learned as a result of a reading block I've been going through, especially in the realm of fiction. And the thing is that, sometimes, we don't know how much we really know ourselves until we feel disconnected from what we have always loved. So, here I go with what this process has taught me:
🌱 Leer dos libros a la vez puede ser divertido/Reading two books at once can be fun
Durante mucho tiempo pensé que leer más de un libro al mismo tiempo no era lo mío. Siempre fui de las que preferían concentrarse en una sola historia para conectar profundamente con los personajes y su universo. Sin embargo, este bloqueo me hizo probar algo diferente. Empecé a leer dos libros de forma paralela, y para mi sorpresa, lo disfruté. Me di cuenta de que no estaba “traicionando” a una historia por atender otra (jeje), sino que simplemente estaba adaptando la lectura a mi estado de ánimo. Si un libro no lograba atraparme en ese momento, podía refugiarme en el otro sin sentirme culpable. Aprendí que la lectura puede ser flexible, y que eso no le quita valor a la experiencia.
For a long time I thought that reading more than one book at the same time was not my thing. I was always one of those who preferred to concentrate on a single story to connect deeply with the characters and their universe. However, this roadblock made me try something different. I started reading two books in parallel, and to my surprise, I enjoyed it. I realized that I wasn't “betraying” one story by attending to another (hehe), but I was simply adapting the reading to my mood. If one book failed to grab me at the time, I could retreat to the other without feeling guilty. I learned that reading can be flexible, and that doesn't detract from the experience.

Esto tal vez ya lo mencioné antes, pero siento que vale la pena repetirlo: leer a mi propio ritmo ha sido uno de los mayores aprendizajes de este proceso. Durante meses me sentí mal por no haber leído tanto como en años anteriores. De hecho, solo he terminado dos libros en lo que va del año. Antes, eso me habría causado ansiedad o incluso culpa. Pero ahora, simplemente no me importa. Porque entendí que no se trata de cantidad, sino de calidad emocional. Las lecturas que estoy tejiendo —aunque pocas— me están dando justo lo que necesito: consuelo, compañía y descubrimiento. Y eso vale más que cualquier número.
I may have mentioned this before, but I feel it bears repeating: reading at my own pace has been one of the greatest lessons learned from this process. For months I felt bad about not reading as much as I had in previous years. In fact, I've only finished two books so far this year. Before, that would have caused me anxiety or even guilt. But now, I just don't care. Because I understood that it's not about quantity, it's about emotional quality. The readings I'm weaving - though few - are giving me just what I need: solace, companionship and discovery. And that is worth more than any number.
🌑 Me gusta lo oscuro… aunque aún me cueste aceptarlo/I like the dark... even if I still find it hard to accept it.
No, todavía no he llegado al dark romance (aunque nunca digas nunca), pero he notado que últimamente me atraen más las historias que salen un poco de lo convencional. Libros con una pizca de oscuridad, con personajes rotos, con ambientes turbios o temáticas intensas. Me di cuenta de esto cuando el único libro de ficción que logré terminar en meses fue un thriller bastante oscuro. Algo en esas historias me hace sentir viva, alerta, intrigada. Me empujan a reflexionar y a mirar la complejidad humana sin filtros. Tal vez no me he animado aún a sumergirme del todo en ese tipo de lecturas, pero reconozco que me atraen. Y eso ya es un descubrimiento personal muy valioso.
No, I haven't gotten to dark romance yet (though never say never), but I've noticed that lately I'm more drawn to stories that go a bit off the beaten path. Books with a hint of darkness, with broken characters, with murky settings or intense subject matter. I realized this when the only fiction book I managed to finish in months was a fairly dark thriller. Something about those stories makes me feel alive, alert, intrigued. They push me to reflect and look at human complexity without filters. Perhaps I have not yet dared to immerse myself completely in this type of reading, but I recognize that I am attracted to them. And that is already a very valuable personal discovery.
🌸 Conclusión: el bloqueo lector también es lectura
Parece contradictorio, pero es así. Este periodo de bloqueo, más que alejarme de los libros, me ha llevado a conocerme mejor como lectora. Me enseñó que puedo tener ritmos distintos, que no hay reglas sagradas en la lectura, y que está bien disfrutar de las sombras tanto como de la luz. Así que, si estás pasando por algo parecido, solo te puedo decir que no te juzgues. Escucha tus emociones, explora sin presión, y redescubre tu amor por la lectura desde otro ángulo. A veces, los bloqueos no son más que pausas necesarias para volver a conectar con lo que realmente nos mueve.
It seems contradictory, but it is so. This blocking period, more than taking me away from books, has led me to know myself better as a reader. It taught me that I can have different rhythms, that there are no sacred rules in reading, and that it's okay to enjoy the shadows as much as the light. So, if you're going through something similar, I can only tell you not to judge yourself. Listen to your emotions, explore without pressure, and rediscover your love of reading from another angle. Sometimes, blocks are nothing more than necessary pauses to reconnect with what really moves us.
