Micaela es una editora recién recibida en busca de un puesto de trabajo en alguna editorial que la haga impulsarse en su profesión. Cuando un amigo le habla de que hay una vacante en una editorial de renombre, Mica no duda en postularse y ante todo pronóstico es elegida para tener una entrevista, lo que no se imagina es que su archienemigo, Nicolás, también es aspirante al puesto y encima los ponen a trabajar juntos para buscar al próximo autor best seller de la editorial. Así que deberán trabajar en equipo y competir al mismo tiempo para demostrar que son dignos de ese puesto de trabajo. Sin embargo, nada es tan fácil como parece porque es imposible que estén juntos en una misma habitación sin que estén discutiendo. ¿Podrán dejar su odio de lado y cooperar por el bien de su futuro? Y lo más importante, ¿es odio lo que sienten el uno por el otro?
Micaela is a newly qualified editor looking for a job at a publishing house that will help her advance in her career. When a friend tells her about a vacancy at a renowned publishing house, Mica doesn't hesitate to apply and, against all odds, is chosen for an interview. What she doesn't realize is that her arch-enemy, Nicolás, is also applying for the position, and on top of that, they are assigned to work together to find the publishing house's next best-selling author. So they must work as a team and compete at the same time to prove that they are worthy of the job. However, nothing is as easy as it seems because it is impossible for them to be in the same room without arguing. Will they be able to put their hatred aside and cooperate for the sake of their future? And most importantly, is it hatred that they feel for each other?
Me resultó una lectura muy fresca y divertida, me hizo pasar momentos muy buenos y graciosos, amé la dinámica de los dos protagonistas. A veces parecían dos niños discutiendo, pero tienen sus razones para comportarse de esta manera. La historia es muy adictiva de entrada, tiene todo lo que me gusta y me encantó ver cómo funcionan las internas de una editorial. En mi imaginación pienso que puede ser un mundo bastante competitivo, pero lo que importa es cómo se encara la competencia. Algunas personas aman lo que hacen y lo realizan con pasión, pero otras solo quieren pisar cabezas y no les importa dañar al otro en su camino. Este libro nos habla un poco de eso.
I found it a very fresh and entertaining read, it gave me some really good laughs, and I loved the dynamic between the two main characters. At times they seemed like two kids arguing, but they have their reasons for behaving that way. The story is very addictive from the start. It has everything I like, and I loved seeing how the inner workings of a publishing house function. In my imagination, I think it can be a pretty competitive world, but what matters is how you approach the competition. Some people love what they do and do it with passion, but others just want to step on heads and don't care about hurting others along the way. This book talks a little bit about that.
Por otro lado, es una trama bastante realista, me gustó que tiene un buen ritmo y escenas cotidianas con las que resulta fácil identificarse. Vemos la desesperación de ser una joven graduada sin trabajo y con todas las ganas y los sueños de encontrar uno, al mismo tiempo que surgen las presiones por parte del entorno familiar y, encima, tenes que lidiar con sentirte una fracasada. Me gustó que mostrarán ese lado en la historia.
On the other hand, it's a fairly realistic plot. I liked that it has a good pace and everyday scenes that are easy to relate to. We see the desperation of being a young graduate without a job and with all the desire and dreams of finding one, while at the same time facing pressure from family and, on top of that, having to deal with feeling like a failure. I liked that they showed that side of the story.
También amé que hay puntos de vista del otro protagonista, Nicolás, no sabía esto y quedé muy sorprendida cuando lo descubrí. No hay muchos capítulos suyos, pero son muy efectivos y sirven para entender mejor su entorno y lo que siente por su parte. Es genial cuando esto sucede. También él tiene que lidiar con los mandatos familiares y estar a la altura de su apellido, según su padre. Así que ambos tienen razones muy fuertes para obtener ese puesto de trabajo.
I also loved that there are points of view from the other main character, Nicolás. I didn't know this and was very surprised when I found out. There aren't many chapters from his perspective, but they are very effective and help us to better understand his environment and how he feels. It's great when this happens. He also has to deal with family expectations and live up to his surname, according to his father. So both of them have very strong reasons for wanting that job.
Lo que amé este rivals to lovers, no me decepcionó para nada, es todo lo que buscan de un libro con este trope. Así que si les gusta les recomiendo el libro. Aunque por momentos me sacaban bastante de quicio, sobre todo Micaela que era la más impulsiva y que no escuchaba explicaciones. Y ya les adelanto que Nicolás es digno material de novio literario, lo tuve que agregar a mi lista porque lo que suspire con este hombre es increíble.
I loved this rivals-to-lovers story; it didn't disappoint me at all. It's everything you could want from a book with this trope. So if you like this kind of story, I recommend the book. Although at times they drove me crazy, especially Micaela, who was the most impulsive and wouldn't listen to explanations. And I'll tell you right now that Nicolás is worthy literary boyfriend material. I had to add him to my list because the way I swooned over this man is incredible.
Como les decía, es una historia ligera y divertida, ideal para leer algo tranquilo, sin demasiadas complicaciones y super atrapante, como para leer de un tirón. Los capítulos son más o menos cortos y la historia se disfruta un montón. Así que está más que recomendado por mi parte.
As I was saying, it's a lighthearted and entertaining story, ideal for a relaxing read, without too many complications and super captivating, perfect for reading in one sitting. The chapters are fairly short and the story is thoroughly enjoyable. So I highly recommend it.
