¡Hola amigos lectores! ¿Cómo van esas lecturas? Ya debería estar leyendo libros navideños, pero justo se me ocurrió empezar a leer una saga de libros muuuy larga. Así que no sé si llegue a leer alguno este año, pero bueno, lo compenso viendo películas para entrar en el clima navideño.
Hello fellow readers, how's the reading going? I should be reading Christmas books by now, but I just got the idea to start reading a very long series of books. So I don't know if I'll get to read any of them this year, but I'm making up for it by watching movies to get in the Christmas mood.
La saga de la que les hablo es La rueda del tiempo, me encanta la serie, la sigo desde su primera temporada y me dieron ganas de leer los libros, aunque son un montón. Pero bueno, finalmente comencé y lo hice por su precuela que se llama Nueva Primavera, su autor es Robert Jordan.
The serie I'm talking about is The Wheel of Time, I love the series, I've been following it since the first season and I wanted to read the books, although there are a lot of them. But well, I finally started and I did it for its prequel called New Spring, its author is Robert Jordan.

Acá conoceremos la historia de Moraine, cómo llegó a convertirse en Aes Sedai y empezar la búsqueda del dragón renacido desde su nacimiento, los peligros que tuvo que enfrentar en el camino y cómo termina conociendo a quien será su guardián, Lan Mandragoran. Es el libro ideal para introducirse de lleno a este mundo tan cautivador y complejo.
New Spring is the prequel to the saga The Wheel of Time. Bueno, tenía mis dudas si saltarme este libro o no, ya que quería empezar con el primero de la saga, pero menos mal que lo leí porque me dio un panorama más exacto de lo que me iba a llegar a encontrar. Venía tranquila con esto porque al conocer la serie ya estoy enterada de varias cosas que suceden, pero el libro es bastante diferente a la serie como tal, así que me parece muy necesario leerlo. Además, ya empecé el primer libro y me di cuenta de que si no hubiera visto la serie estaría un poco perdida con algunos términos que se utilizan y que todavía no se explican, pero sí se los ve en esta precuela. Así que es una sugerencia si les interesa leer la saga de libros también.
Well, I had my doubts whether to skip this book or not, since I wanted to start with the first of the serie, but thank goodness I read it because it gave me a more accurate picture of what I was going to find. I came calm with this because knowing the series I am already aware of several things that happen, but the book is quite different from the series as such, so I find it very necessary to read it. Also, I already started the first book and realized that if I hadn't seen the series I would be a bit lost with some terms that are used and still not explained, but you do see them in this prequel. So that's a suggestion if you are interested in reading the serie of book as well.
El libro se me hizo un poco pesado hasta la mitad más o menos, todo el recorrido de Moraine mientras estaba en la Torre Blanca cumpliendo con su entrenamiento de Aes Sedai se me hizo un poco aburrido de leer, pero me dieron una idea de la clase de relación que hay entre algunos personajes y todo lo que ocurrió cuando se supo de la profecía del nacimiento del Dragón. El Dragón es un hombre que se enfrenta al poder del Oscuro, llevan siglos en esta lucha y, según la profecía, está será la última batalla. Las Aes Sedai son mujeres que pueden alcanzar el Poder Único, una especie de magia mezclada con ciencia que se crea a través de absorber los distintos elementos y ver los hilos que los conectan para crear algún hechizo.
The book got a bit heavy for me until the middle or so, the whole journey of Moraine while he was in the White Tower fulfilling his Aes Sedai training got a bit boring to read, but I got an idea of the kind of relationship there is between some characters and everything that happened when the prophecy of the Dragon's birth was known. The Dragon is a man facing the power of the Dark One, they have been in this fight for centuries and according to the prophecy, this will be the last battle. The Aes Sedai are women who can attain the One Power, a kind of magic mixed with science that is created through absorbing the different elements and seeing the threads that connect them to create a spell.
Después, cuando salió de la torre, me empezó a enganchar más y cuando fue su primer encuentro con Lan me tenía leyendo sin parar y disfrutando de esta pelea de egos jajaja. Adoro a Lan, es un gran personaje. Moraine me cayó un poco mal, me pareció una chiquilla molesta que siempre cree tener la razón, es un tanto imprudente y soberbia.
Then when he left the tower, he started to hook me more and when it was his first meeting with Lan he had me reading non-stop and enjoying this fight of egos hahaha. I love Lan, she's a great character. I didn't like Moraine, she seemed like an annoying little girl who always thinks she's right, she's a bit reckless and arrogant.
Sentí que tuve un ritmo lento de lectura porque hay pocos diálogos y mucha descripción de lugares, pensamientos, explicaciones. Pero bueno, es el estilo del autor, sacando esto me parece una muy buena historia. Tiene sus contras, como todo, pero creo que va a valer la pena leerla. Además me encanta que por momentos cambie el punto de vista de la narración de los personajes, ya que nos permite entender mejor algunas situaciones y podemos aprender a conectar con los personajes y sus emociones. Así que esto es un plus, me gusta cuando hay más de una perspectiva en un libro.
I felt I had a slow reading pace because there is little dialogue and a lot of description of places, thoughts, explanations. But well, it's the author's style, so I think it's a very good story. It has its cons, like everything, but I think it will be worth reading. Also I love that at times he changes the point of view of the narration of the characters, as it allows us to better understand some situations and we can learn to connect with the characters and their emotions. So this is a plus, I like it when there is more than one perspective in a book.
Mi idea era intercalar la lectura con otros libros que tengo pendientes, para que no se me haga tan pesado, ya que son como 15. Así que estoy en ello. Por ahora mi veredicto es bueno y quiero continuar leyendo esta gran historia.
My idea was to intersperse the reading with other books I have pending, so that it doesn't become so heavy, since there are about 15 of them. For now my verdict is good and I want to continue reading this great story.
