Esta novela de suspenso es la primera que leo de esta autora y es puedo decir que no me ha decepcionado. Por eso les traigo por aquí esta recomendación. Es un libro de lectura rápida y apropiada para todos los lectores que les guste el misterio.

La trama se desarrolla en Nueva York y cuenta la historia de Carolyn y la búsqueda de respuestas a tantas preguntas que rodean a la desaparición de su hermano. Y es que Mack (como le dicen) se va un día y deja de hablar con la familia, pero llama a su madre todos los años en el Día de la Madre para demostrarle que sigue sano y a salvo, no obstante no dice nada más. Después de diez años ya Carolyn desea descubrir por qué se mantiene lejos, a qué le teme tanto como para haber abandonado a su familia sin explicación alguna y esa llamada que podría ser de cualquiera.
The plot takes place in New York and tells the history of Carolyn and the search for answers to so many questions surrounding the disappearance of his brother. Mack (as he is called) leaves one day and stops talking to the family, but calls his mother every year on Mother's Day to show her that he is still safe and sound, but says nothing more. After ten years now Carolyn wants to find out why he stays away, what he is so afraid of that he has abandoned his family without explanation and that call that could be from anyone.

Aquello le traerá a la joven muchas preguntas y, en especial, la confirmación de que su hermano está metido en algo grave. A su vez, la desaparición de una joven al salir de una discoteca parece estar relacionada.

La historia resulta muy intrigante y te atrapa desde la primera página. Me pareció excelentemente lograda y me sorprendió de buena manera. Tiene varios giros inesperados y no conocemos la verdad hasta el final. Transitamos con Carolyn sus miedos, sus errores y el descubrimiento de un mundo muy peligroso. A pesar de que toda su familia se opone a esta búsqueda, no se deja vencer por la adversidad. Está dispuesta a encontrar a Mack y a acabar con la angustia que tienen todos por su causa. Sin embargo, hechos en un principio independientes acaban relacionándose bajo una maraña que ponen en peligro la vida de la propia Carolyn. El final… fenomenal, no me lo esperaba. Si te gusta el suspenso, no te pierdas esta lectura.
The history is very intriguing and grabs you from the first page. I thought it was excellently done and surprised me in a good way. It has several unexpected twists and turns and we don't know the truth until the end. We go through Carolyn's fears, her mistakes and the discovery of a very dangerous world. Even though her entire family is opposed to this quest, she does not give in to adversity. She is determined to find Mack and put an end to the anguish they all feel because of him. However, initially independent events end up intertwined in a tangle that endangers Carolyn's own life. The ending... phenomenal, I wasn't expecting it. If you like suspense, don't miss this read.
