Last week we only have @omokhafue and @bemier in the audience. We ended up talking about reading problems and issues in our perspective society. It's interesting to know that reading as a hobby is declining. But let us know, how is reading culture in your country?
And if you want to share what you have to say about your favorite book and reads, feel free to join us this Saturday!

Hello everyone, friends of Hive, I hope you're doing great. This time I want to share a new review with you. This time I want to give you my personal opinions on the book: This Must Be The Place, by Maggie O'Farrell. Here O'Farrell immerses us in a super current story, and the truth is, this shows you what a great writer she is, how amazing is her versatility! It still has that spark... my first impression? It's a story that hit me hard, emotionally speaking, very quickly, but it's not like it's a crazy action story, it's more like... like slowly immersing yourself in something dense, something that feels very real, very human... it reminded me of those old cookie tins, the ones grandma used to store anything and everything, but that suddenly you'd find full of old photos... reading this book is exactly that, each chapter is like taking a different photo: sometimes blurry, other times super sharp, some in color, others in black and white...

Now, about the book itself. I've been cultivating the art of Haiku for a long time. My first steps coming back to Hive where in the Mizu No Oto initiatives in the @bananafish community. These were contests in which we would get a photo and write a haiku from that prompt. It was a nice exercise and a way of getting into something I had discovered years ago in a workshop.

Aura and The Green Trap of Time | Review (Eng/Esp)
I return to this #Hivebookclub community with another book that, at some point in my life, made me daydream and imagine myself as the protagonist. As you may have noticed, I’m back once again with a novel bearing a woman’s name.

Last Night Tales, my impressions (Eng/Esp)
Venezuelan author Esmeralda Torres, through Last Night Tales, presents us with a series of stories framed in a recognizable social reality. Although most of her stories are short, her narrative is condensed to the point of sparing details to capture the substance of everyday life, where violence and marginality scourge each character who clings to give some sense to their existence.

Breaking Free/Liberarse by Courtney O’Reilly
As soon as I opened it, I felt as though I was Katie. I could sense the cold of her small apartment, the pressure of her fright and the pain in her chest when she first felt the realization that she was pregnant. Courtney O'Reilly is not a time waster. She portrays Katie's pain from page 1. When her violent ex, Jacob, bursts in with fire in his eyes, you can feel it. Your heart is beating in the ribs. Her lips are quivering. You are breathless as you wait to see whether she manages to get away or not.

The Last Dragon of the East - A Dragon, a Thread, and a Whole Lot of Heart
If you’ve ever found yourself swooning over fated lovers, dragons in disguise, and ancient quests tangled in emotion and myth—then The Last Dragon of the East by Katrina Kwan is your next must-read. This book is a beautifully atmospheric fantasy romance rooted in Chinese mythology, brimming with heartache, longing, and just the right touch of magic. What I found refreshing about this book was that it’s told entirely from a male point of view. I’ve read more than my fair share of fantasy novels, but do you know how many of them are written solely from a guy’s perspective—not dual or multiple POVs, but purely male? Very, very few. So this felt like a welcome change.

In my previous post in the Hive Book Club community, I shared my interest in reading short stories. Growing up, I remember how I used to read a series of children’s stories—I found them interesting and fascinating. My favorite was Peter and Jane—a collection of short stories by an author whose name I no longer remember. As I grew older, I started reading a different kind of short stories—the ones that address societal issues and have deep and serious themes. One thing I love about short stories is that they are bulky, so they can be completed within minutes or hours, depending on the number of pages and the reader’s speed. If I want to make a non-reader to start reading books, I usually love to start with short stories. Primarily because their pages will not overwhelm them.
