Review of Rubén Darío's book Azul - its before and after in my life [Esp-Eng]

I have always loved novels and books that contribute to your personal growth, but when it comes to poetry books, I don't usually read them, although I fondly remember that when I was little, my dad used to read Andrés Eloy Blanco and his poems to me a lot, and I was happy and enjoyed reading very much. I have always been more drawn to other styles of reading.

But there was a turning point with a great book that, although short, taught me to love and appreciate the beauty of words spoken in a poetic way, the depth that lies in a good comparison, and everything that the writer conveys in each of his lines. The book is called Azul, by the writer Rubén Darío (one of my mother's favorites), and although it is an old book, I only read it recently.

Siempre me han gustado mucho las novelas y los libros que contribuyen a tu crecimiento personal, pero cuando se trata de libros de poesía, estos no suelo leerlos, aunque recuerdo con cariño que mi papá de pequeña me leía mucho a Andrés Eloy Blanco y sus poemas y yo era feliz y disfrutaba mucho de la lectura, a mi siempre me ha atrapado más otro estilo de lectura.

Pero hubo un antes y después con un gran libro que aunque corto, me enseñó a amarlo a apreciar la belleza de las palabras dichas se una forma poética, de la profundidad que hay en una buena comparación y todo eso que te transmite el escritor en cada una de sus líneas. El libro se llama Azul, del escritor Rubén Darío (uno de los favoritos de mi mamá) y aunque es un libro que tiene sus años, yo a penas lo leí hace poco.

Although it is a book of poems and some short stories, the truth is that everything is written so poetically, so cleanly, and so deeply that I honestly cannot find the words to describe it. So, I can simply say that it is a very good book that somehow caresses your brain. It is gentle, it is beautiful, but at the same time, it leaves you with great lessons and touches on topics that are quite important.

What happens with books like Azul and the reason why they don't usually captivate me is because they don't have a common thread; rather, each poem and each story deals with something different, says something different, another idea. But in this case, although yes, there are several stories and poems, they all have a unique beauty that leaves you fascinated, wanting to continue reading with all your senses.

Si bien es un libro de poemas y algunos cuentos, la verdad es que todo está escrito tan poeticamente, tan limpio y tan profundo que honestamente no escuentro una palabras para describirlo, por lo que simplemente puedo decir que es un muy buen libro que de alguna forma hace caricias a tu cerebro, es suave, es hermoso pero a la vez, deja grandes lecciones y hala de temas que son bastante importantes.

Lo que ocurre con los libros como Azul y la razón por la que a mi no suelen atraparme es porque no llevan un hilo, sino que cada poesía y cada cuento trata algo distinto, dice algo diferente, otra idea. Pero en este caso, aunque si, son varios cuentos y poemas, todos tienen una bleza única que te deja fascinado, con ganas de seguir leyendo con todos tus sentidos.

Something that fascinated me about this reading is that, in a way, the writer invites you to feel the sensations, to experience what he writes through metaphors and precise words. One of my favorite stories is "The Palace of the Sun," which, although it is a story with details, comparisons, and well-chosen words, is deeper than that because it talks about sadness and how it can extinguish everything, even the body.

I love how, without needing to explain it, without directly stating the lesson of this story, the reader understands it well. While it talks about the power of regaining joy after a long period of sadness, it goes beyond simply saying that you have to try hard or move forward. I see it as a beautiful way in which you decide for yourself that being emotionally well requires more than just your efforts; it also requires the right company and the right place, even if this is sometimes a metaphor.

Algo que me fascinó de esta lectura, es que de alguna manera el escritor te invita a sentir las sensaciones, al experimentar lo que excribio a través de metáforas y palabras exactas. Uno de los cuentos que más me gusta es "el palacio del sol", que si bien es un cuento con detalles, comparaciones y palabras muy bien dichas, es más profundo que eso, porque habla sobre la tristeza, y como esta puede apagarlo todo incluso al cuerpo.

Me encanta como sin necesidad de explicarlo, sin decir directamente la lección de este cuento, el lector entiende bien cual es. Si bien habla sobre el poder recuperar la alegría luego de un largo periodo de tristeza, va más allá de el simple hecho de decir que debes esforzarte o salir adelante, lo veo como una forma bonita en la que tu decides entender por tu cuenta que estar bien emocionalmente, requiere de algo más que solo tus esfuerzos, también requiere de la compañía adecuada y del lugar correcto, aunque a veces esto sea una metáfora.

Each story, though short, contains a message, a lesson learned, beautifully expressed. And this is simply pure art, a book that is totally worth reading, that makes you feel, makes you want to keep reading, and above all, makes you love it. So, from my point of view, it goes beyond being a book of poetry and prose stories; it is a book made with love and the right words, and filled with a great deal of sensitivity.

Cada cuento, aunque corto contiene un mensaje una enseñanza aprendida de una manera hermosamente dicha. Y esto, es simplemente arte puro, un libro que vale totalmente la pena leer que te hace sentir, te hace querer segur leyendo y sobretodo te hace amarlo. Así que desde mi punto de vista, va más allá de ser un libro de poesía y de cuentos en prosa, es un libro hecho con amor y con las palabras correctas y lleno de mucha, pero mucha sensibilidad.
