Hello everyone, my friends, fans of good stories, lovers of reading, on this occasion, I want to share with you all a new review, after seeing it in many places, I finally encouraged you to read: The Atlas Six, the cover is beautiful, I was super prepared for those dark academy and magic vibes... I went in expecting something specific, it was quite an experience... to begin with, the concept? Absolutely brilliant. Seriously, the idea of ​​this secret magical group, the Alexandrian Society, that protects the lost knowledge of the Library of Alexandria is simply wonderful, it immediately grabs you, and the central premise: every ten years, they choose six of the most powerful young magic users (or Halflings, as they call them) to join their ranks for a year, knowing that in the end, one of them will not make the cut and will be eliminated... that instantly creates tension... or should it, the magic system is quite detailed and, without a doubt, one of the most interesting parts.

It’s roughly divided into physical mediums – people who can manipulate the world around them, like the elements, nature (there’s one naturalist character whose power I thought was really cool), even the weather – and then the more mental types, like telepaths, empaths, and persuaders. Each of the six candidates has a unique specialty, and the author definitely spends time exploring these powers. It can seem like a lot of information to take in, almost academic in itself, and honestly, some of the physics-based explanations of magic were a bit over my head.

But you don’t necessarily need a science degree to appreciate the idea; it adds a layer of complexity to the world. Now, this is where things got a little complicated for me. The story is told from all six – yes, six – points of view. In theory, this is great for getting inside the heads of the characters, especially when they all have such distinct abilities and personalities. But in practice... it felt... slow, very slow. You jump from one head to the next, and while it's interesting at first as they're recruited by the mysterious caretaker, Atlas Blakely, once they're all together at the society HQ, it often felt like it was hitting the brakes on each chapter - it takes a long time to get through them all, and honestly, I didn't connect with all of them.

Hola a todos, amigos fanáticos de las buenas historias, amantes de la lectura, en esta ocasión, quiero compartir con todos ustedes una nueva reseña, luego de verlo en muchos lados, por fin le anime a leer: The Atlas Six, la portada es preciosa, yo estaba súper preparado para esas vibras de academia oscura y magia.. entré esperando algo específico, fue toda una experiencia.. para empezar, ¿el concepto? Absolutamente genial. En serio, la idea de este grupo mágico secreto, la Sociedad Alejandrina, que protege el conocimiento perdido de la Biblioteca de Alejandría es simplemente una maravilla, te atrapa de inmediato, y la premisa central: cada diez años, eligen a seis de los jóvenes usuarios de magia (o Medianos, como los llaman) más poderosos para unirse a sus filas durante un año, sabiendo que al final, uno de ellos no pasará el corte y será eliminado… eso crea tensión al instante.. o debería crearla, el sistema de magia es bastante detallado y, sin duda, una de las partes más interesantes.

Se divide a grandes rasgos en médiums físicos – gente que puede manipular el mundo a su alrededor, como los elementos, la naturaleza (hay un personaje naturalista cuyo poder me pareció realmente genial), incluso el tiempo – y luego los de tipo más mental, como telépatas, empáticos y persuasores, cada uno de los seis candidatos tiene una especialidad única, y el autor definitivamente dedica tiempo a explorar estos poderes.. puede parecer mucha información que asimilar, casi académico en sí mismo, y sinceramente, algunas de las explicaciones de magia basadas en la física me superaron un poco.

Pero no necesitas necesariamente un título en ciencias para apreciar la idea; añade una capa de complejidad al mundo, ahora, aquí es donde las cosas se complicaron un poco para mí.. la historia se cuenta desde los seis –sí, seis– puntos de vista, en teoría, esto es genial para meterse de lleno en la cabeza de los personajes, especialmente cuando todos tienen habilidades y personalidades tan distintas. Pero en la práctica... se sintió... lento, muy lento.. saltas de una cabeza a otra, y aunque al principio es interesante mientras son reclutados por el misterioso cuidador, Atlas Blakely, una vez que están todos juntos en la sede de la sociedad, a menudo sentí que era como pisar el freno en cada capítulo, lleva mucho tiempo pasar por todos, y sinceramente, no conecté con todos ellos.

And the characters, they are intense, they think they're the last Coca-Cola in the desert, you know? The author makes them seem super intelligent, mega powerful, but also... quite conceited, kind of arrogant... which, okay, makes sense because of who they are, but that doesn't mean you'll always like them. There's Libby and Nico, who are rivals, have similar powers, and have that super intense vibe that a lot of people love because of the 'enemies to lovers' thing, but for me... it didn't seem to convince me. Then there's Parisa, the telepath, who uses her beauty and mind-reading to manipulate everyone... interesting, yes, but the trick felt kind of repetitive. Tristan, the one who sees through illusions, kind of had potential, and Reina, the one with the plants, I think she was the one I connected with the most, honestly... and Callum, the one who feels and convinces... let's say he was nice, nice... he wasn't, haha!

It happened to me what I'd heard before: it's really hard to find someone you can truly, wholeheartedly root for, the writing style... that's something to talk about... a lot of people say it's too ornate, too 'oh, how deep I am', and I do understand why they say that, right? It's dense, very philosophical, full of characters thinking about the immortality of the crab and dialogues that want to be super deep... sometimes it's nice, it goes well with the intellectual and academic vibe, but other times, especially with how slow everything moves, it feels... heavy! Like walking in thick mud. There are very long stretches where it seems like no action is happening, it's mostly the characters talking, thinking, analyzing each other, making theories about magic and society, and trying to understand what game they're playing and why only five of them are left. It's very much about getting into their heads, very focused on the characters.

Which isn't bad, but I really needed more rhythm, more action! Yes, there are interesting things between them: rivalries, alliances that change constantly, moments when they connect, moments that even feel strange or unexpected... but if you were looking for a super spicy or very romantic book based on what you saw on social media, you might be disappointed... like I said, Parisa uses sexiness as a weapon, but romance isn't really at the heart of this; it's more about complicated, tense power games and fights over who's smarter.

Y los personajes, son intensos, se creen la última Coca-Cola del desierto, ¿saben? La autora los pone como súper inteligentes, mega poderosos, pero también... bastante creídos, medio sangrones.. que bueno, ok, tiene lógica por quiénes son, pero no por eso te caen bien siempre, ahí tienes a Libby y Nico, que son rivales, poderes parecidos, y tienen esa onda súper intensa que a mucha gente le encanta por el rollo 'enemies to lovers', pero a mí... como que no me terminó de convencer, luego está Parisa, la telépata, que usa que está guapa y que lee mentes para manipular a todo el mundo.. interesante, sí, pero se me hizo medio repetitivo el truco. Tristan, el que ve a través de las ilusiones, como que tenía potencial, y Reina, la de las plantitas, creo que fue con la que más conecté, la verdad.. y Callum, el que siente y convence… digamos que simpático, simpático... no era, ¡jaja!

Me pasó lo que ya había escuchado por ahí: cuesta un montón encontrar a alguien a quien animar de verdad, de corazón, la forma de escribir... eso sí que da de qué hablar.. mucha gente dice que es muy adornada, muy 'ay, qué profunda soy', y sí entiendo por qué lo dicen, ¿eh? Es denso, muy filosófico, lleno de los personajes pensando en la inmortalidad del cangrejo y diálogos que quieren ser súper profundos.. a veces queda bonito, le va bien a la onda intelectual y académica, pero otras veces, sobre todo con lo lento que va todo, se siente... ¡pesado! Como caminar en lodo espeso. Hay ratos larguísimos donde parece que no pasa nada de acción, son más que nada los personajes hablando, pensando, analizándose unos a otros, haciendo teorías de magia y de la sociedad, y tratando de entender en qué juego están metidos y por qué solo cinco se quedan, es muy de meterse en la cabeza de ellos, muy enfocado en los personajes.

Que no está mal, pero yo, la verdad, ¡necesitaba más ritmo, más acción! Sí hay cosas interesantes entre ellos, rivalidades, alianzas que cambian a cada rato, momentos en que conectan, que se sienten hasta raros o que no te esperas.. pero si venías buscando un libro súper spicy o muy romántico por lo que viste en redes, tal vez y te decepcionas.. como dije, Parisa usa lo sexy como un arma, pero el romance de verdad no es el centro de esto; es más bien sobre juegos de poder complicados, tensos, y peleas de quién es más inteligente.

So, who is this book for, really? I think if you like stories where the important thing is what happens inside the characters' heads, if you like that dense, semi-philosophical kind of writing, and you don't mind that things move VERY SLOWLY, like on a low heat... and if you get hooked on complicated magic systems and the Dark Academia vibe (even if the plot drags a little), chances are this book is right up your alley. But if you need more rhythm, more action that you can see, or characters that you like immediately and can easily animate... mmm, maybe it's going to be a bit difficult for you, to be honest. In the end, I give it like... 3.5/5 stars.

The basic idea is great, you can tell the author wanted to do something great, and the magic system has some really cool things... but the pace is so slow!, the characters that you often find annoying (although yes, they are complex, that’s true) and that dense way of writing... made it so I couldn’t really love it, I felt like it was a book that I had to love just for the idea, you know? But in the end, the way it was written just didn’t connect with me, it wasn’t for me... I finished it, yes, and I’m curious to see what happens next, but it’s not like I’m going to run out right now to read the sequel, okay? Entonces, ¿pa' quién es este libro, de verdad? Yo creo que si te gustan las historias donde lo importante es lo que pasa dentro de la cabeza de los personajes, si te gusta ese rollo de escritura densa, medio filosófica, y no te molesta que la cosa vaya LENTÍSIMO, como a fuego bajo... y si te clavas con sistemas de magia complicados y la onda dark academia (aunque la trama se arrastre un poquito), chance y este libro es justo lo tuyo, pero si necesitas más ritmo, más acción que se vea, o personajes que te caigan bien al toque y los animes fácil... mmm, capaz que te va a costar un poquito, la verdad. Yo, al final, le doy como un... 3.5/5 estrellas.

La idea base está buenísima, se nota que la autora quería hacer algo grande, y el sistema de magia tiene cosas súper chidas.. pero el ritmo lentísimo!, los personajes que muchas veces te caen gordos (aunque sí, son complejos, eso sí) y esa forma de escribir tan densa... hicieron que no pudiera amarlo así con locura, sentí que era un libro que tenía que encantarme por la idea, ¿saben? Pero al final, la forma en que está hecho como que nomás no conectó conmigo, no fue pa' mí.. lo acabé, sí, y me da curiosidad ver qué onda con lo que sigue, pero tampoco es que vaya a salir corriendo ahorita mismo a leer la secuela, ¿eh?
