Hello, book lovers.
Reading is my greatest passion. I can't imagine my life without books. I read a lot and different genres.
It so happens that I currently live abroad, namely in the Netherlands. I don't speak the language, so I have a bit of a problem with books here. I borrow them from friends and read them electronically.
I recently met a family who moved here from Odesa. They are a young couple. They have an active lifestyle and love sports. I asked my new friends if they had any books. They shared one of their favourite stories.
It is a journalistic story by the author Scott Jurek called Eat and Run. I can't say that I was immediately interested in the book or in a hurry to read it. The thing is that I don't really like motivational stories, and even more so if they are about sports and nutrition.

Читання то моє найбільше захоплення. Без книг не уявляю свого життя. Читаю багато і різні жанри.
Так сталося, що нині я живу за кордоном, а саме в Нідерландах. Мови не знаю, тому з книгами тут у мене дійсно трішечки напружено. Беру їх у друзів, читаю в електронному вигляді.
Нещодавно познайомилася з родиною, що переїхала сюди з Одеси. Це молоде подрежжя. Вони мають активну життєву позицію, люблять спорт. Я запитала в нових знайомих чи мають вони книги. Вони поділилися однією зі своїх найулюбленіших історій.
Це публіцистична історія від автора Скота Джурека "Їж і біжи". Не скажу, що зразу ж зацікавилася книгою чи поспішала читати її. Вся справа в тім, що я не дуже люблю мотиваційні оповіді, а тим більше, якщо це про спорт і харчування.
The author describes the experience of ultramarathon runner Steve Friedman. This man really made himself, and therefore his story was worth a book. I realised this when I started reading. I think a book can change the world of each of us. And here's why I think so.
Every victory or goal is worth a lot. It's an incredible effort to work on your own consciousness and mind. It all starts with changing the perception of familiar things, such as food. Then, having sufficient motivation, a person starts to think differently and finds not only benefits from the chosen lifestyle, but also enjoys it. By the way, the story "Eat and Run" contains as many as 20 recipes for those who support veganism. They are energetically balanced and therefore contain all the necessary nutrients that people need, even those who are active in sports.

Кожна перемога чи ціль вартує дость дорого. Це неймовірні зусилля над власною свідомістю та розумом. Все починається зі зміни сприйняття звичних речей, як от харчування. Потім людина, маючи достатню мотивацію, вже починає мислити по іншому та знаходить не лише користь від обраного способу життя, а й отримує від нього справжнє задоволення. До речі, в розповіді "Їж та біжи" є аж 20 рецептів для тих, хто підтримує веганство. Вони енергетично збалансовані, а тому містять всі необхідні поживні речовини, які необхідні людям, навіть тим хто активно займається спортом.
Running, like any other sport, requires physical effort. Sometimes you feel so sorry for yourself when you get tired that you start to feel sorry for yourself and look for reasons not to continue. Steve Friedman teaches you to be patient, persistent, and sometimes merciless to your weaknesses. To achieve what he wants, Steve shares his own experience, which includes exhaustion, bruised feet... and at the same time, constant self-belief and hard work.
I think that a lot in later life depends on the principles laid down in childhood. And the story of the ultramarathon runner proves it. It would seem that the difficulties and the regime are not suitable for a young age, when life should be filled with colours and entertainment. But thanks to this, the foundation of a strong, ambitious and resilient personality is laid.
The book can motivate everyone, even those who are not into sports. This story can be an example for everyone who wants something and faces difficulties: whether it is learning a language, mastering a profession, or even driving a car. After all, having the experience of someone else's success, paved over the years with incredible work and effort, you start to believe in yourself and strive harder towards your goal.
Біг, як і інший вид спорту, вимагає фізичних зусиль. Інколи так себе шкода, коли заморюєшся, а тому починаєш жаліти себе та шукати причин, щоб не продовжувати. Стів Фрідман вчить бути терплячим, наполеглевим та подекуди нещадним до своїх слабкостей. Щоб досягти бажаного Стів ділиться власним досвідом, у якому є обезсилення, натерті в кров ноги... та в той же час - постійна віра у власні сили та тяжка праця.
Думаю, що багато чого в подальшому житті залежить від принципів, закладених у дитинстві. І це підверджує історія ультрамарафонця. Здавалося б труднощі та режим не підходять для юного віку, коли життя повинне бути наповнене барвами і розвагами. Та завдяки цьому, закладається фундамент сильної, амбіційної та витривалої особистості.
Книга може мотивувати кожного, навіть не в спорті. Ця історія може бути прикладом для кожного, хто чогось прагне та стикається з труднощами: будь то вивчення мови, опанування професією чи навіть водіння авто. Адже маючи в арсеналі досвід чужого успіху, прокладеного через роки неймовірною працею та зусиллями, починаєш вірити у себе та наполегливіше прямуєш до мети.
