[ENG-ESP] 📃🙅🏻‍♀️ Book Review: Mr. Wrong Number 📱💕

Hello Hello Community! ✨, there are definitely love stories that can seem like a stroke of luck, one day you're going through a rough patch and you get a message from who you least expect and boom! something happens right away that makes everything better, or at least gives you moments of fun 🤣, and that's exactly what this funny story offers 🤣, which I got to after having read a lousy book 🤦🏻‍♀️, because believe it or not, sometimes I read romances that are really bad 🤦🏻‍♀️, and just to get out of that bad taste in my mouth I found this story that despite its flaws, gave me hours of laughter 🤣, so today we will talk about Mr. Wrong Number 📱💕.

Olivia Marshall seems to always be haunted by bad luck, although her family has always believed her to be rather clumsy, otherwise how did she set fire to the flat where she lived? 🤷🏻‍♀️, and many things happened after the break-up of their relationship, including this accidental event, which has led her to have to move in with her brother and her annoying best friend Colin. However, one night she receives a message from an unknown number asking her what she is wearing, and from that mistake begins a series of amusing conversations that gradually become spicier and at the same time more meaningful.

For Colin Beck, Olivia has always been his best friend's irritating younger sister, and although he didn't initially agree to live with her in his flat, he decides to accept it to do his friend a favour, what he didn't expect is that by living with her he would discover that time has made Olivia quite fun and interesting, and when he discovers that she is actually the girl with whom he has been exchanging somewhat spicy messages, he will be at the crossroads of having to make a decision 😆.

This is definitely one of the funniest and lightest reads I've read so far, Lynn Painter is an author with a lot of lightness when it comes to narrate her stories, and I speak in plural because by this point I've already read this story and another one that is connected to this one (which will be my next review 😆), and in both I've been able to enjoy a very subtle writing and narration. Something characteristic of this writer is that her stories are told from both protagonists, and if you already have time reading my reviews, you will know that I love that style of writing because it allows me to have the whole version of the story and know much better the characters, especially the protagonists.

And that detail in this particular story plays a fundamental role, because we are talking about protagonists who interact by messages 🤣, and if you don't know the perspective of both of them, not only you are going to spend the whole story suspecting that it's Colin with whom Olivia is writing, but also you won't know if he really feels something for her or all the moral dilemma he feels when he realizes that she is the one he exchanges messages with, plus it's always fun to read the male points of view in these books 🤣.

You really can't imagine how much I laughed with this book, Olivia is a protagonist that although at the end I ended up disliking her, I have to say that throughout the development of the story I found it extremely funny, she really has so many things going on that you get to a point where you consider if she really has bad luck 🤣🤣. Something I really liked about how this female protagonist is developed, is that she doesn't expect anyone to solve her problems, and you can really see how she hits rock bottom after the break up of her old relationship, she's left without a job, without a home and now living in her brother's best friend's flat back in her hometown, with what looks like a "loser" sign on her forehead, and little by little we see her overcoming every situation that comes her way and taking the reins of her life, without help from anyone and that's really a very special touch of her character.

Colin on the other hand is a guy that although he was born with privileges, he was born to be that member of the family that goes against what is expected of him, among lawyers with prestige, he decided to go a different way and that not only has led him to loneliness, but it is also a pressure on his shoulders because at the slightest professional failure, he will have his father telling him "I told you so". I have to say that he is my favourite in this story, not only because he is the one who falls in love first, but because he is very practical, no fuss, no drama, his only mistake was keeping some information from Olivia, but even I as a reader can say that it was silly 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Although I find it a very entertaining, fun and enjoyable story, it is true that it is not perfect and the truth is that there are things that I didn't like at all, specifically the ending, and I really understand that the course of the story was exactly where we would end up, with Olivia angry because Colin hid something from her, however I personally feel that this argument of confrontation in romance stories is already overused and falls into the ridiculous or unnecessary, And if that wasn't enough, you add that the resolution of this conflict happens in less than two pages, that is, after all the drama that is generated by the female protagonist, then you decide to close the story with a "I'm sorry", then you decide to close the story with "I'm sorry" and "it's ok I forgive you" 🤷🏻‍♀️, and I'm not saying that this is wrong, just that it was too hasty and meaningless 🤷🏻‍♀️.

I feel that when you build a romance in a clean way, you have to be very careful with the way you end it, because a bad ending can in many ways damage a whole story, and we have seen that in many books, and I don't mean that this is the case of this book, but it does leave a bad taste in my mouth with such a weak ending 🤷🏻‍♀️.

¡Hola Hola Comunidad! ✨, definitivamente hay historias de amor que pueden parecer un golpe de suerte, un día estás atravesando por una mala racha y recibes un mensaje de quien menos imaginas y ¡boom! ocurre enseguida algo que lo mejora todo, o que al menos te da momentos de diversión 🤣, y justamente todo eso es lo que ofrece ésta divertida historia 🤣, a la cual llegué luego de haber leído un pésimo libro 🤦🏻‍♀️, porque aunque no lo crean, a veces me pasa que leo romances que son malísimos 🤦🏻‍♀️, y justamente para salir de ese mal sabor de boca me encontré con ésta historia que pese a sus fallas, me dió horas de risa 🤣, así que hoy hablaremos de El Sr. Número Desconocido 📱💕.

A Olivia Marshall parece que siempre la persigue la mala suerte, aunque en realidad su familia siempre ha creído que es bastante torpe, y es que de no ser así ¿Cómo es que incendió el apartamento donde vivía? 🤷🏻‍♀️, y es que muchas cosas ocurrieron tras la ruptura de su relación, incluyendo éste accidentado evento, que la ha llevado a tener que mudarse con su hermano y su fastidioso mejor amigo Colin. Sin embargo, una noche recibe un mensaje de un número desconocido en el que le pregunta qué lleva puesto, y apartir de ese error comienzan una serie de divertidas conversaciones que poco a poco se vuelven más picantes y al mismo tiempo más significativas.

Para Colin Beck, Olivia siempre ha sido la irritante hermana menor de su mejor amigo, y aunque inicialmente no estaba de acuerdo con convivir con ella en su apartamento, decide aceptarlo para hacerle el favor a su amigo, lo que él no esperaba es que con la convivencia descubriría que el tiempo ha hecho de Olivia alguien bastante divertida e interesante, y cuando descubre que ella en realidad es la chica con la que ha estado intercambiando mensajes un tanto picantes, se verá en la encrucijada de tener que tomar ina decisión 😆.

Ésta definitivamente es de las lecturas más divertidas y ligeras que he consumido hasta ahora, de verdad que Lynn Painter es una autora con mucha ligereza a la hora de narrar sus historias, y hablo en plural porque para ésta punto ya he leído ésta historia y otra que se encuentra conectada a ésta (la cual será mi siguiente reseña 😆), y en ambas he podido disfrutar de una escritura y narración muy sutil. Algo característico de ésta escritora es que sus historias están contadas desde ambos protagonistas, y si ya tienes tiempo leyendo mis reseñas, sabrás que a mí me encanta ese estilo de redacción porque me permite tener toda la versión de la historia y conocer mucho mejor a los personajes, en especial a los protagonistas.

Y ese detalle en ésta historia en particular juega un papel fundamental, porque estamos hablando de protagonistas que interaccionan por mensajes 🤣, y si no conoces la perspectiva de ambos, no solo es que vas a pasar toda la historia sospechando de que es Colin con quien Olivia se escribe, sino que además no sabrás si él realmente siente algo por ella ni todo el dilema moral que él siente cuando se da cuenta que es ella con quien intercambia mensajes, además siempre es divertido leer los puntos de vista masculinos en éstos libros 🤣.

Ustedes de verdad no se imagina lo mucho que yo me reí con éste libro, Olivia es una protagonista que si bien al final me terminó cayendo mal, he de decir que durante todo el desarrollo de la historia me pareció sumamente divertida, de verdad que le pasa cada cosa que llegas a un momento en el que consideras si de verdad tiene mala suerte 🤣🤣. Algo que me gustó bastante de como está desarrollada ésta protagonista femenina, es que no espera que nadie resuelva sus problemas, y en serio puedes ver como ella toca fondo luego de la ruptura de su antigua relación, queda sin trabajo, sin casa y ahora viviendo en el departamento del mejor amigo de su hermano de vuelta en su ciudad natal, con lo que parece un cartel de “fracasada” en la frente, y poco a poco la vemos superando cada situación que se le presenta y tomando las riendas de su vida, sin ayuda de nadie y eso de verdad es un toque muy especial de su personaje.

Colin por otro lado es un chico que si bien nació con privilegios, le tocó ser ese miembro de la familia que va en contra de lo que se espera de él, entre abogados con prestigio, él decidió irse por un camino distinto y eso no solo lo ha llevado un poco a la soledad, sino que también es una presión sobre sus hombros porque al mínimo fracaso profesional, tendrá a su padre diciéndole “yo te lo dije”. He de decir que él es mi favorito en ésta historia, no solo por es quien se enamora primero, sino porque es muy práctico, sin rollos y sin dramas, su único error fue ocultarle cierta información a Olivia, pero incluso yo como lectora puedo decir que era una tontería 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Aunque me parece una historia muy entretenida, divertida y disfrutable, sí es cierto que no es perfecta y la verdad si hay cosas que no me gustaron del todo, específicamente el final, y es que yo de verdad entiendo que por el curso de la historia era justamente allí donde iríamos a acabar, con Olivia enojada porque Colin le ocultó algo, sin embargo yo personalmente siento que ese argumento de confrontación en las historias de romance ya está muy usado y cae en lo ridículo o innecesario, aquí pasó exactamente ésto que comento, y sí eso no fuese suficiente le añades que la resolución de éste conflicto se da en menos de dos páginas, o sea luego de todo el drama que se genera por parte de la protagonista femenina, entonces decides cerrar la historia con un “lo siento” y “está bien te perdono” 🤷🏻‍♀️, y no digo que ésto esté mal, solo que se planteo de forma demasiado apresurada y sin sentido 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Siento que cuando se construye de forma limpia un romance, se debe cuidar muchísimo la manera en como lo acabas, porque un final mal realizado puede en muchos sentidos dañar toda una historia, y eso de hecho lo hemos visto en muchísimos libros, y con ésto no quiero decir que éste sea el caso de éste libro, pero si me deja un mal sabor de boca un desenlace tan flojo 🤷🏻‍♀️.
