I haven’t picked up a book to read since I finished reading The Deathly Hallows, completing my Harry Potter read for who knows how many times. I should probably write up my thoughts on it after this read but writing it down would mean the read is truly over. I felt a bit hollow once it was done so I was trying to avoid submitting entirely to the hollow by affirming in written words that I have finished this read!
I in fact read the last few chapters of the book very slowly on purpose to delay it ending fast, and also to savour every last bit of detail engraved in the climax.
I had the entire set of "Before the Coffee Gets Cold" already ordered and delivered, collecting dust on the headstand. And visiting the national book fair last month ignited something again. Something that I thought I may have had lost on some messy afternoon in my childhood - an inexplicable satisfaction of looking at and buying new books!
Sure enough, from that day on I have constantly found myself browsing through facebook pages that sell books online. Constantly, and I don’t even like facebook! I haven’t just been looking. I have already bought 7 more books since then, 3 books are accompanying the three books of "Before the Coffee Gets Cold" set in collecting dust. Four more are on the way. I should get that delivery by this coming weekend.
So I decided to pick up the first book of the "Before the coffee gets cold" set and start reading it at my chamber in between patients this evening. I could only manage to read the first few pages because the chaos today was unbearable and quite distracting for "safe" book reading! Especially because I think this is a book that I'd enjoy much more when I'm in the quiet silence of the early morning or midnight maybe.
At first glance this book seems straight out perfect for one of the #spillthebeans entry of Cinnamon Cup Coffee Community! After the heavyweight depth of the harry potter series, and how much heavier the plot of the books that are on the way is going to be (hint : there's a Haruki Murakami book in there), I think spacing the reads out with some light fun reading in between is going to be fantastic!
I don't know if other readers do this as well or whether it's just absolutely rubbish logic! Either way, I will find out soon enough.
For now, my coffee is getting cold!
