Today I decided to set a target date ( deadline is a terrible word ) for finishing the second ( and latest ) edition of my first book.
The last time I came with a similar idea, this worked.
I managed to finish the first edition of this same book on 22/02/2022 , as can be read in I did it!
Then, a little over a week after that memorable moment, I told about the 10 and only copies of that first print arriving at my parents' place in What's in the Box - My First Book
The target date that I decided on, today, is the last day of June
( 30/06 or 06/30, depending on where you're located )
which gives me 38 more days -
plenty of time, it seems.
Lately, I have been focused on changing the original illustrations ( used in the first print ), that were made in all kinds of random styles, with random media, and at random moments ( created between 2019 and early 2022 ).
As of today, I've got 11 lino drawings to go ( one each, for half of the 22 stories ).
Even if I need 2 days per lino print ( right now, I create about 1 of them per day ), I will still have over 2 weeks left for the actual finishing/ editing and so on.
Perfect!
Today, I spotted a dead mosquito, glued to the fly catcher that I hung on my bookshelf, a day or two ago.
I might be a friendly spirit, overall, and I do my best not to hurt or kill insects but there's some exceptions. It's fair to say that I still struggle to not be bothered by flies and mosquitoes ( might be my hypersensitivity and them being a little too attracted to me, at times ) and there's more and more of them at this time of the year.
If you've been following me for a while, you might be aware that the aforementioned led to me creating a character called 'Mrs. Mosquito' who - not surprisingly - made it into my book.
And - if she's lucky - she might even be the ( sucking ) star of a future book ( probably titled Hypersensitivosaurus and Mrs. Mosquito )
If you're a sucker for mosquito stories, by pressing this link you will be able to read over a handful of older Mrs. Mosquito posts that I made Unfinished Stories about Animals.
What I did for today's lino is basically drawing the mosquito in the position that I found it in, on the fly catcher ( that is, after having taken a picture of it ).
I felt it illustrated a weak, dizzy Mrs. Mosquito, with terribly low blood pressure.
In this particular story ( Mrs. Mosquito - To Suck or not to Suck ), this petit parasite is struggling with her instinct ( to suck blood ) and basically suffering the consequences.
Here's the first line of that story:
Mrs. Mosquito - Mozzie for friends - but who wants to be friends with a mosquito? - felt a little anemic...
*she hadn't sucked any blood, for a couple of days, and was now really starting to feel the effects of it
Before the second lino print that I made today, I added some lines to make it look like she was shaking.
In all honesty, I think I like the first print better.
What about you?
I am gonna end it here for today and will probably be back tomorrow, if possible with yet another lino print / future book illustration.
The full story ( and 21 other tales ) can be read in my book.
It would be awesome if you choose to support me, by buying my dino ( and, at times, other animals ) art on my NFT Showroom page
Or you can reserve a copy of this upcoming book - The Life of Hypersensitivosaurus: 22 Short Stories about Dinos and other animals - by sending me 22 Hive or 22 HBD.
Postage will be calculated when the books are finally ready to travel your way.
Berries are also welcome ( you only need HBD - Hive Backed Dollars - for that though ). Yes, this friendly raptor likes fruit ( as mentioned in the story from defeat to fig tree ).
And if you're not active on Hive, you can always choose to gift a coffee to me, on here: https://ko-fi.com/hypersensitivosaurus
Big Raptor Hug,
with stretched out tiny arms and without the razorsharp claws
( eventhough this supersensitive dino can't stand nail-filing)
