The monster of disconnectedness didn't want to be an ordinary monster but, unlike the Monster of Loch Ness, it didn't live in Scotland nor in the water and it wasn't a spectacular mythological creature either.
Suffice to say that it was a seemingly ordinary monster and one that often felt alone.
It will not come as a surprise to you then, that the monster of disco was always looking for connection, not just to nature, the world around it and other monsters
but also
to itself.
Unfortunately, it usually had to start the day looking for its separate(d) body parts, that it would slowly re-collect from wherever they were hiding, all-over-the-place.*
The last couple of days I have been drawing quite a lot, basically focusing on monsters and - if possible, disco themed.
Nevertheless, I have chosen, today, to share some monsters that are not necessarily of the 'disco' type and - aside from that - not just drawn by me.
I won't share who drew what ;<)
CUT BACK TO
Two days ago, when I arrived at my twin sister's place: an amazing location, with a hectare of terraced land, with a river at the bottom. She has been living here, in the Portuguese countryside for over 5 years now ( and so have I, in different places at 5 to 12kms away from her ).
As per usual, I ended up drawing/ sketching and my niece and nephew joined in, kind of copying their uncle, before they started monsters of their own.
Just now, I looked at three other pages, where both my niece and nephew copied a kind of DJ monster that i had drawn. It put a big smile on my face. Might share these some other day ( or not ).
Later that same day, my sister asked if I had seen the drawing at the table? I hadn't.
Apparently, she had copied our monsters on another piece of A4 paper, adding her unique touch to it haha!
I felt like sharing her drawing with you, as well as some close ups of separate monsters.
Tomorrow I will probably share a lot more monsters, as I have a bunch of other pages of sketchies that can't be missed out on.
And I had an insight, today, that there's a chance that a bunch of other monsters will be added to my book ( as side characters/ antagonists of the monster of disco ), including The Monster of Perfectionism.
To deal with the latter, I will shamelessly share as much of my process as possible, including what others might see as mediocre sketchies ( probably because the force of perfectionism is still strong, in these ones )
TO BE CONVINUED soon as I am housesitting my sister's place up till Saturday, while they are on a late mini holiday and I will be having loads of time in this inspiring place to play around and create...
