This is my 7th Chit Chat Friday post, and each week I like to talk about different topics to try to drive up engagement on Hive. This week's topic is an extension of something I did previously, and I'd really love for you to contribute. In fact I'm asking you, please do.
Hive PPP Index
Back in March I did the first edition of the Hive PPP Index. The index looks at the cost of a basket of goods from different countries. The objective is to understand a bit more about how the cost of living varies around the world for Hivers. I received 18 responses from 14 different countries, and that allowed me to present quite a meaningful view of the first edition of the Hive PPP Index. You can view the results here if you're interested.
For the second edition I'd love to get more input from people from different countries to make our Hive PPP Index even more meaningful. I have kept the basket of goods more or less the same as last time. It will be interesting to track changes within the same countries if contributors from last time are interested to take part again. The basket of goods can be found below.
Your country (optional and city/region): UK, South West
Currency: GBP £
|Item|Price|
|-|-|
|one month mobile phone plan with 5GB data|xx|
|1 litre of standard unleaded petrol/gas |xx|
|500 gram of pasta|xx|
|6 eggs|xx|
|1 kg flour|xx|
|1 kg minced beef or pork|xx|
|1 kg of potatoes|xx|
|1 pack of 12 roll toilet paper|xx|
|1 litre of fresh milk|xx|
|1 bottle of 2 litre Coca cola or other soft drink|xx|
|1 pack of 6 can beer|xx|
|one cinema ticket to watch the latest Hollywood blockbuster movie|xx|
How can I contribute
I'm interested to find out how much it would normally cost you to buy these items in your country. It doesn't matter what the brand is or the quality or type (eg plain flour or corn flour, cage eggs or free range eggs). Whatever you normally buy would be fine. If your country sells a different unit eg pack of 9 toilet rolls or 12 cans of beer, please pro rata that to the unit specified. And if you don't normally buy the product, please use the price if you were to go and buy it tomorrow. Just make sure to keep the unit of measurement (eg 5GB data, 1 kg, 6 cans) the same to make the index comparison meaningful.
You can use the format above. Copy and paste it and replace with your own answers, then add it as a comment to this post like I have done below. Or if you would like to do a post about your contribution, please make sure to use the tag #hiveppp so I can find it. You can give the prices in your local currency or USD (saves me doing the conversion), just make sure you tell me which currency it is. Don't forget to tell me which country you're from, and as an option, your city or region.
Thanks in advance for your input and I look forward to your contribution to the Hive PPP Index.
Edit
Forgot to mention this will close on 9th August.
And I'm shamelessly tagging people who responded last time but not yet this time. Hope to see your input again 😊

I'm writing this as a Chit Chat Friday series of post with the objective of driving up engagement and communication on Hive. The content will evolve around daily life things making it easy for everyone to take part to engage with one another. Hopefully it will interest you to make genuine engagement instead of two word spams like "Nice photos" "Very beautiful" or calling bots. I will be muting those comments.
