And I have helped my friend to invest in hive and earn through their Simple Earn program.
Back in steem days I invited my friend @amanprem to join this platform and post content and earn. Back then he started posting some nice content, as he was a professional photographer having high end cameras and even a studio for creating albums with some professional hires from the industry. I spent time with him, explaining the usability of various keys, how to protect them, where to use them, how to write a good post etc. I even wrote couple of blogs for his reference. But with time, his interest changed, he converted his unit to a news channel, hiring few people, who posted regional news on a very popular fake book page that he owned, which was also posted to this chain, without much reward. Couple of years in that venture, he realized it was running on loss, so he again changed track, joining real estate. He has gone through lot of challenges, and is doing pretty well now, but what I like about him is that, his personality and behavior has not changed - he values relationship and that is why we get in touch whenever there is a necessity - yesterday I called him and he managed to spend an hour with us, counseling my son for his career, I didn't forget to share mangoes.
All along he had interest in crypto, but he did not know where to invest, so sometimes back, he asked me to help him invest ₹200000. So we bought USDT in WazirX and thankfully, moved them to Binance just before it was hacked. Then I recommended to invest in hive, but he was no longer interested to write posts or even curate. Fair, you just buy and hold it, and sell when the price goes up. He agreed, but he advised to invest a little in some other tokens. So we put a little on XRP and HBAR. Sometimes back, I heard about the Simple Earn program on Binance and I put all the assets in that program - yes now I manage his Binance account, after getting all the credentials from him. At one point he was telling me to even take everything in my name, but I am not in favor of that - money sometimes kills relationship. Also there are tax implications, and I need to educate him on that.
Back then the APR was in single digit but recently it has been hiked to a whopping 45% - don't know how, but feels something is cooking ? It always feel nice to earn some free rewards and as you see, so far he has earned close to 425 hive - just by opting for the program.
Since he was not interested in posting or curation, I had him power down his hive and keep it ready. I also owed him some money, but he never asked. Seeing him earning money by staking, I decided to pay the debt in hive and paid him 1000 hive today, he prefers crypto than fiat, as now he is excited to see these rewards out of nowhere. I always remember my debts and make sure to pay back, don't want to die with any kind of debt on me.
I have helped him move all his hive to Binance now and stake them in the Simple Earn program to earn more.
An estimated 10 hive reward out of his staking (including these additional fund) - who would not love it !!
I have also moved my little liquid hive and trying this out. And it's flexible, you can redeem at any time and they will come to your spot wallet. There are Locking option with higher yields, but I am not in favor of them.
In flexible option, you can deactivate and redeem at any time. We will see how much we earn in a month. I went through the terms and conditions and there are risks :
Although Binance takes all reasonable precautions to minimise the risks described in the risk factor statement and to safeguard the return of Simple Earn Assets to users in accordance with these Simple Earn Terms, in extreme and exceptional circumstances Binance may not have sufficient assets readily available to return Simple Earn Assets to users in a timely manner. This could result in you losing some or all of your Simple Earn Assets. These exceptional circumstances could arise, for example, following a catastrophic hack or technical failure, a significant number of borrowers to whom loans have been made under Margin and Loan products defaulting at the same time, depletion of the Margin insurance fund, systemic risk or other black swan events that affect the cryptocurrency market as a whole.
But then there is risk everywhere, every time, every day - what I am not sure is that how they are able to provide this high APR. Anyone has any idea ? Are they now eying on hive, knowing that steem is going to be a failure ?
Starting this post, I have decided to post my finance related blogs in this Finance and Economy community, created by the great @azircon , a very genuine and pro hiver - I love real people on the chain.
