Hi there my vegan friends at Plant Power ๐ฑ
I'm Elia, I'm 30 y.o. and I started my path into plant based and antispecism about 4 years ago.
In January 2021, while driving home from my workplace, my eyes fell upon a truck, loaded of lambs.
I don't know why it happened in that moment, but I felt so bad realizing they were going to the slaughterhouse
... That's the exact moment I said: "I don't want to eat meat anymore. I don't want to bring animals to death: I will make I change from today". And that's the beginning of my path as a vegetarian.
I stayed vegetarian for 1 year.
Almost every week/month of that year I found out something new behind the truth hidden by the animal agriculture: it was all a matter of money and no one REALLY cares about the animals, even if they were grass fed and they used the walk in free range farms. I soon understood that all that kind of stuff it was a great deception, made from the industries to justify and continue to torture and kill animals because WE NEED THAT.
I was shocked.
So, towards the end of the year, I discovered Veganuary, a community that created a 30 days challenge, that everybody could have access to for free, starting in January, with the aim of eating only plant-based food in that range of time.
So I tried. I took part in the challenge, finding out more and more about all the abuses and exploitation that the animals of the industry (EVERY damn industry, from the bio farm 'till the backdoor farmer friend of parents, to the pet shop, and so on...) endured.
It was 2022 and at the end of that challenge I was ready to continue, so I decided to stay vegan, all life long.
Just a few months after, I discovered a reality made of activists that performed with TVs on their shoulders, showing footages about the shocking truth about the animal industries. It was a static and peaceful form of activism so I decided to join and to speak for all the victims of this sick system.
Now I'm vegan since about 4 years and I'm still fighting for animal rights, and I will continue to do this because animals deserve peace, love and compassion. If we don't speak for them, the world should not be able to listen to their voices begging for mercy and to watch them in the eyes and choose compassion instead of something so brutal and wrong.
While I'm at home and not in the streets with my fellows activists, I really enjoy cooking and trasform traditional Italian dishes (and beyond ๐) in delicious vegan food, from the really famous Carbonara to my mum's meat stew
... All in a brand new vegan key! And let me tell you: that's totally worth it. ๐ฑโจ๏ธ
Hoping my story could be an example for many other persons out there, I wish you a great vegan day.
GO VEGAN, TAKE ACTION!๐ช๐ป๐ฑ
