Greetings dear friends of Plant Power (Vegan), today I am back in this community to participate in the 28th edition of your vegan shopping, an initiative proposed by @sirenahippie, this time we will talk about salt.
Salt is an indispensable product to give flavor to food, there are other types of condiments, but none like salt. There are even desserts and sweet drinks where salt is always present. It also contains many important minerals for our organism, such as iron, zinc, iodine, calcium and potassium. In salt we can find a good percentage of sodium, an essential nutrient to maintain certain functions in balance, such as muscles, nerves and our body fluids. The use of salt in cooking ranges from flavoring foods to preparing pickles, dehydrating foods, as well as helping to preserve proteins for longer periods of time compared to leaving them raw. There are several types of salt, along with different brands and price range.
Today I went to a supermarket in the city where I live called the Hato Grill, there I found several types of salt: coarse, sea and fine table salt. When I have to buy salt I do not skimp much, I have a brand that is my favorite and I go directly to it, it is called Arayamar. There are other well-known brands that I have used, such as Bahía salt, which is also very good. On the shelf I could see that Arayamar is one of the most economical, and not only that, I already know its seasoning, it is a salt that adds flavor to food without adding too much. Some time ago at home we bought a salt of a brand we didn't know and no matter how much we added it to the food, it didn't have any flavor. For me, Arayamar can be summed up in good brand, good taste, nutrients and economy, because you don't need large quantities, it lasts long and costs little.
The expiration date is one of the factors that I take into consideration, as well as its consistency, in the package you can see how the grains are. I prefer them loose, a symptom of freshness, when they are compact I do not choose it because they suggest a certain degree of humidity. The cost of the Arayamar salt was 0.29$, equivalent to the exchange rate of the day, 10.60 VES, currency of my country, Venezuela. This brand of salt I have chosen is fine table salt, 1 kg and in its description it says that it contains iodine and fluorin.
As for the uses, it is amazing how salt surprises us outside the gastronomic field, however, before going into this topic, I want to share with you that at home my father always leaned towards the natural and healthy, so he bought Himalayan salt a long time ago. He used this salt in finished foods and it is said that it also provides a sensational aroma.
Although salt provides many benefits for our body, it should not be consumed in excess, no matter how natural it is, which means that it remains a key counterproductive factor in high blood pressure.
Salt has many uses besides the culinary one, it is and has been the star ingredient in the elaboration of industrial products, home and medicinal uses. Among the home uses I can mention that in my personal experience it is effective to remove stains from clothes in combination with other products such as vinegar. It eliminates bad odors and repels insects. As a topical use it is excellent to reduce inflammation and also has antibacterial properties. Salt is very versatile and its consumption should be moderate. So far my participation, I hope you like it.

Saludos estimados amigos de Plant Power (Vegan), hoy estoy de vuelta en esta comunidad para participar en la edición número 28 de tus compras veganas, una iniciativa propuesta por @sirenahippie, en esta ocasión hablaremos sobre la sal.
La sal es un producto indispensable para darle sabor a las comidas, existen otros tipos de condimentos, pero como la sal ninguno. Incluso, hay postres y bebidas dulces donde no falta el punto de sal. Además, contiene muchos minerales importantes para nuestro organismo, como hierro, zinc, yodo, calcio y potasio. En la sal podemos encontrar un buen porcentaje de sodio, un nutriente fundamental para mantener ciertas funciones en equilibrio, como músculos, nervios y nuestros fluidos corporales. El uso de la sal en la cocina va desde darle sabor a las comidas hasta la preparación de encurtidos, deshidratar alimentos, además de ayudar a conservar las proteínas por más tiempo en comparación si las dejamos crudas. Existen varios tipos de sal, aunado a marcas y variedades de precios.
Hoy fui a un supermercado en la ciudad donde resido llamado el Hato Grill, allí encontré varios tipos de sal: gruesa, marina y fina de mesa. Cuando tengo que comprar sal no escatimo mucho, tengo una marca que es mi preferida y directamente voy a ella, se llama Arayamar. Existen otras marcas conocidas que he utilizado, como sal Bahía, que también es muy buena. En el estante pude observar que Arayamar es una de las más económicas, y no solo eso, ya conozco su sazón, es una sal que le aporta sabor a las comidas sin necesidad de agregar demasiado. Hace tiempo en casa compraron una sal de una marca que no conocíamos y por más que se la añadíamos a la comida, ésta no agarraba sabor. Para mi Arayamar se resume en buena marca, buen sabor, nutrientes y economía, porque no se necesitan grandes cantidades, dura mucho y cuesta poco.
La fecha de vencimiento es uno de los factores que tomo en consideración, al igual que su consistencia, en el paquete se puede notar como se encuentran los granos. Los prefiero sueltos, un síntoma de frescura, cuando están compactos no la elijo porque sugieren un cierto grado de humedad. El costo de la sal Arayamar fue de 0,29$, equivalente a la tasa de cambio del día, 10,60 VES, moneda de mi país, Venezuela. Este marca de sal que he elegido es sal fina de mesa, de 1 kg y en su descripción dice que contiene yodo y flúor.
En cuanto a los usos, es increíble como la sal nos sorprende fuera del ámbito gastronómico, sin embargo, antes de entrar en este tema, quiero compartirles que en casa mi padre siempre se inclinaba por lo natural y saludable, por eso compró hace mucho tiempo sal del Himalaya. Esta sal la usaba en los alimentos ya terminados y se dice que también aporta un aroma sensacional.
Aunque la sal proporciona muchos beneficios para nuestro organismo, no se debe consumir en exceso, por muy natural que ésta sea, lo que significa que sigue siendo un factor clave y contraproducente en la hipertensión arterial.
La sal tiene muchos usos además del culinario, es y ha sido el ingrediente estrella en la elaboración de productos industriales, usos caseros y medicinales. Entre los usos caseros puedo mencionar que en mi experiencia personal es efectiva para desmanchar la ropa en combinación con otros productos como el vinagre. Elimina malos olores y ahuyenta a los insectos. Como uso tópico es excelente para desinflamar y además cuenta con propiedades antibacterianas. La sal es muy versátil y su consumo debe ser moderado.
