Hi, all HIVE friends in this healthy community, I am very happy to be able to share this with all of you who are here. And this is our 5th fasting day in Ramadan this year. and as usual when ramdhan has arrived there will be many special menus served for the iftar menu. And today I will make a dish that is very simple to make and doesn't feel bad when we eat it. Actually, when breaking our fast, we are advised to drink or eat sweet food first, but because I live in Indonesia, which prioritizes fried foods compared to dates or sweet foods, this is the fried iftar menu that I made today.
And I chose Bakwan Jagung as my and my husband's breaking fast menu, a dish that is very easy to make and doesn't take too long to serve. And without wasting any more time I will share the recipe with you guys:
Necessary materials
1. 2 pieces of sweet corn that I just picked from the field and are still very fresh
2. 2 red onions
3. 2 cloves of garlic
4. 2 hazelnuts
5. 4- 5 large red chilies / to taste
6. Finely chopped celery leaves
7. ½ tablespoon of salt / to taste
8. 3 tablespoons of vegetable flour flour
9. 1 scoop of vegetable rice flour
10. Oil for frying
How to make :
1. Because I just harvested this corn, I have to open the corn husks and clean the corn from the corn hairs
2. After cleaning, I immediately separated the corn kernels using a knife and placed them in a container.
3. Grind the red chilies, shallots, garlic, candlenuts and add salt to it. blender until smooth
4. Mix the chopped celery leaves into the container that already contains the corn
5. Then add flour and rice flour
6. After that, add the ground spices, stir until smooth, you can add water little by little to produce the desired thickness. However, don't make it too runny because it will take up too much oil when frying it.
7. Stir until smooth, then heat the cooking oil over medium heat then fry the corn fritters using a spoon.
8. After it is browned, turn the cornbread over and remove after the color is evenly brown.
9. Corn fritters are ready to be served, if it's not spicy enough, you can add chili sauce as a dip for your corn fritters.
A little note from my recipe:
- Usually people only make bakwan with wheat flour, but I always add rice flour to my fritters so that the fritters dry quickly and don't use up the oil, so the cholesterol levels are not too high.
Tall - I always use a little cooking oil and don't overdo it so I don't have too much left, using cooking oil more than 3 x will be at risk of getting cancer, right?
- If you don't like spicy, then you can replace it with just a little pepper. It will taste just as good.
- This recipe is very delicious, eat it while it's hot and serve it with warm lemon tea. It's a really cool combination. Try.
