Rainy days always hit our city, I was still on vacation at my mother's house, a few days ago I was stuck at home because of the flood. The flood caused by overflowing river water due to extreme weather caused several houses in the village, including my mother's house, to be flooded with a water discharge height of more than 1 meter. Very grateful that the water didn't last long, for 3 days the water began to recede. The flood rain made it very difficult for me to go out shopping for my kitchen needs.

Vegan Shopping at The Weekend Market

Today, I started my journey back from my mother's house to the town of Kruengmane where I work. But in the middle of the trip I took the initiative to shop for my vegan needs, at a market very close to where I live, an impromptu market that is often referred to as Market Week which is usually held in various regions in Aceh.

The Weekend Market is an impromptu traditional market which is regularly held once a week in certain areas in our area. Well, it happens that the weekend falls on Thursday, which is held from morning to evening. This weekly market is very typical, sellers sell their wares on the outskirts of city streets, with makeshift tents or transport vehicles. Usually on weekends the villagers will go down to the market to buy various basic needs or other necessities.

This is a very unique market in my opinion, from small to adult like now, a market like this is eagerly awaited by various mothers because it will be very free to shop. And also usually on this weekend it will be very crowded with many people and traffic jams because it is packed with buyers from various circles.

The sellers sell various types of basic needs, as well as various other clothing needs such as clothing and other household necessities. For basic needs, the brand sells various spices, vegetables and fruits. Well, usually for vegetables they sell from their own harvest, like the potatoes I bought.

They sell from their own harvest which is brought directly from the gardens of the highland area of Gayo City. They sell various types of vegetables at very cheap prices, such as the potatoes I bought, the potatoes I bought are priced per kg IDR. 10,000, they wrap potatoes that have been weighed to make it easier for buyers.

Potatoes are one of the vegetables from many other types, such as onions, garlic, chilies, tomatoes which are the main components in cooking, which I always stock at home. Because potatoes can be processed for various types of delicious dishes, potatoes can also be stored for a long time without having to be stored in the refrigerator, usually the storage time for potatoes can reach more than 1 month depending on how you store potatoes. Because the stock of potatoes is running low at home, making me have to buy these fresh potatoes, these potatoes really look very tempting to my eyes.

Potatoes are a type of tuber that is classified as a type of vegetable because it has roots that grow like carrots and radishes. Potatoes are a source of carbohydrates and other substances that can replace rice as my staple food. Potatoes have a variety of 2 types of color, there are potatoes that have white flesh and there are potatoes that have yellow flesh. In addition to the color on the flesh, potatoes also have several variants of the outer skin, the first being brownish, red, green, and potatoes which have a white outer skin.

Choosing a good potato and a tempting taste can be seen with various characteristics, while the good characteristics that I usually do when buying potatoes are as follows.
Choose potatoes that have a hard and dense shape and texture when pressed by hand.
Pay attention to the surface of the potatoes you buy, don't let any sprout.
Choose dry potatoes, if you buy freshly harvested wet potatoes like me, re-dry the potatoes at room temperature, or in other words store them in an open place.
The last thing to pay attention to is to pay attention to the physical characteristics of the potato in more detail so that no one is injured. Or a bad surface.
Recognize the characteristics of rotten potatoes by smelling the aroma of potatoes, usually potatoes that have the smell of flour, it's a sign that the potatoes are still very fresh.

Potatoes are usually in the rainy season like now, very abundant in the market, usually farmers harvest them early because they are afraid that the potatoes will rot, potato farmers will also offer them at very cheap prices. And if the dry season is usually around January or February they will sell at normal prices as usual.

Before leaving the market this week, I asked the vegetable seller to take a photo with me. He is very friendly I love shopping here cheap and get a lot of discounts. well before I took some photos I also asked the seller for permission they were very happy and welcomed him warmly. Alright my friends, this is my vegan shopping, for week 3, hope it can provide positive information for all of you.

I would also like to invite one of my friends @arasiko to participate in this challenge. Find the link here!!
