This is my contribution to the initiative proposed by @mipiano for the month of July on Hive: badges.

I'm not a big badge collector, in fact I'm not a collector at all. I don't collect badges. However, my badges say a lot about my life, about me and the people who have accompanied me at different times in my life. Many of them are gifts with their own history.

Let's start with the first piece. A gift from a friend with a lot of memories and emotions attached to it. Her partner always wore this badge prominently: no more violence against women. When he passed away in 2020, my friend gave it to me.

Esta es mi participación en la iniciativa propuesta por @mipiano del el mes de julio en Hive: insignias.

No soy un gran coleccionista de insignias, de hecho no lo soy. No colecciono insignias. Sin embargo mis insignias hablan bastante de mi vida, de mi y de las personas que me acompañaron/acompañan en diferentes momentos de mi vida. Muchas de ellas son regalos con su propia historia.

Empecemos por la primera pieza. Un regalo de una amiga con mucha carga de recuerdos y emociones. Su pareja siempre llevaba esta insignia bien visible: no más violencia contra las mujeres. Cuando falleció en 2020 mi amiga me la entregó a mi.

The following badges share a more playful history. El Agapo was one of Madrid's essential rock venues back in the 1980s. It played a lot of garage and punk music from the 1960s and 1970s, such as The Remains. But it wasn't all 60s and 70s; the DJs also played records from the era of bands like The Lyres and The Nomads.

That Madrid was very different from today's Madrid, less domesticated. It was so different that a minor, like me when I first discovered Agapo, could spend the night there until 4 or 5 in the morning listening to rock and roll. In that venue, I also enjoyed many live concerts by bands such as Les Thugs and Sex Museum, as well as the numerous garage bands that were coming from Scandinavia at that time.

Las siguientes insignias comparten una historia más lúdica. El Agapo fue uno de los locales de rock imprescindibles de la noche madrileña, allá por los años ochenta. Sonaba mucha música garaje y punk de los años sesenta y sesenta como The Remains. No todo era 60´s y 70´s, los pinchadiscos también ponían discos de la época de grupos como The Lyres o The Nomads.

Ese Madrid era un Madrid muy diferente al de ahora, menos domesticado. Tan otro Madrid que un niño menor de edad como cuando conocí el Agapo podía pasar la noche, hasta las 4 o 5 de la mañana, escucahdo rock and roll. En esa sala también disfruté de muchísimos conciertos en directo de grupos como Les Thugs o Sex Museum o de los numerosísimos grupos de garaje que llegaban de los países escandinavos poa aqella época.

The following badges have less history. One is the symbol of Philadelphia International Records, one of the record labels whose artists I have most enjoyed listening to. The other badge, which went through the washing machine, bears the name of a Swedish band that never made it big (in the music market). Back then, I had a Swedish girlfriend with whom I shared this band's live shows in Spain and Sweden. I have fond memories of the singer's voice.

Las siguientes insignias tienen menos historia. La representa el símbolo de Philadelphia international Records, uno de los sellos discográficos con los que más he disfrutado escuchando a sus artistas. La otra insignia, que pasó por la lavadora, lleva impreso el nombre de un grupo sueco que no llegó a nada (en el mercado de la música). Por aquellos años tuve una novia sueca con la que compartí los directos de esta banda en España y en Suecia. Guardo muy buen recuerdo de la voz de su cantante.

I continue with a badge from the Moratalaz Blues Festival (my neighborhood), about which I can say very little. It was given to me by a friend who also likes blues, perhaps even more than I do. She is a photographer and has a good collection of photographs from different editions of the festival.

Continúo con una insignia del Festival de Blues de Moratalaz (mi barrio), poco puedo decir sobre ella. Me la regaló una amiga a la que también le gusta el Blues, quizás más que a mi. Es fotógrafa y tiene una buena colección de fotografías del festival en sus diferentes ediciones.

Now is the time to say nothing. The time to ask the question: Which soccer team do I support?

Until Rayo Vallecano arrived and remained in the first division for years, Atlético de Madrid was a more than worthy representative of southern Madrid. Located in the working-class neighborhood of Carabanchel, for years the club retained an air of a neighborhood team while also maintaining the stately image inherited from the historic Atlético de Aviación. Now, well... soccer has been reduced to business and image... although the south still exists (Rayo Vallecano, Getafe, etc.) and the defeats of the “cheaters” still make me laugh (as much as their victories).

Ahora llega el momento de no decir nada. El momento de lanzar la pregunta: ¿Cuál es mi equipo de fútbol?

Hasta la llegada y permanencia por años del Rayo Vallecano en la primera división, el Atlético de Madrid fue un más que digno representante del sur de Madrid. Situado su estadio en el Barrio de Carabanchel, un barrio obrero, durante años el club conservó por un lado un aire de equipo de barrio al mismo tiempo que señorial heredado de aquel histórico Atlético de Aviación. Ahora, en fin… el fútbol ha quedado reducido a negocio e imagen, … aunque el sur sigue existiendo (Rayo Vallecano, Getafe, etc.) y las derrotas del "trampas" me siguen haciendo gracia (tanto como sus victorias).

The following badges belong to my more “negativistic” past. I still think NO is a great word, although I no longer act as an “opposition” 24 hours a day. The reason is clear: it's rare that someone deserves my attention enough to warrant a NO.

The other badge, the one that says “I don't want to be like you,” became a lesson in humility. Over the years, I realized that it was the rest of humanity that didn't want to be like me.

La siguientes insignias pertenecen a mi pasado más “negativista”. El NO me sigue pareciendo una gran palabra, aunque ya no voy ejerciendo de “oposición” las 24 horas del día. El motivo es claro, es raro que alguien merezca tanto mi atención como para dedicarle un NO.

La otra chapita, la que dice “no quiero ser como tú” se convirtió en toda lección de humildad. Con el transcurrir de los años me fui dando cuenta de que era el resto de la humanidad la que no quería ser como yo.

The following badge is a gift I received at a bookstore for purchasing a book last Christmas.

La siguiente insignia es un reglo que me dieron en una libreria por la compra de un libro durante la pasada Navidad.

This is the moment to enter another chapter of my life: Hive, the present. The following photographs show gifts that both @ninaeatshere and @stefy.music gave to the Hiviers who participated in the meetups in Barcelona and Madrid organized in recent months by Nina. Two great moments to meet other Hiviers and learn more about the Hive ecosystem.
