This is not an April Fool's joke. Games that don't require a poker face are here for this month's theme. Board games collection!!
Yay, finally - there are Hivers who will say this, as I know that some of them wanted to bring their board games collection. A few weeks ago, we could already see one collection of such by @mdrguez. She reminded me that this item, the games we used to play in family when my son was smaller, are on my list for the monthly themes. π
These boxes patiently waited in one cabinet for a few months. When we were moving, I almost gave them away as I did with many other things. For example, I gave away my jigsaw puzzle collection; then I suggested to my husband that I could do the same with the board games to have less stuff to pack and carry. Also, it would mean fewer things to store in our new home, but he encouraged me that we would find a corner for these boxes. I am happy we brought them, it was not difficult to find them a place, and after all, they are part of our son's childhood. They bring back nice memories for me, especially of those moments when I was winning π.

One of our favourites was this Man, Don't Get Angry game. Maybe I should call it Penguin, Don't Get Angry π as we see the protagonists are these little penguins. Before they would arrive at their home, they should cross dangerous, slippery bridges that the other player could "open" if they had the chance to do it. The penguin could fall into the cold water, but actually, the real penguins would not mind that at all. We played this game countless times with my son.

So many other board games found their place on our table. One of them was El Primero de la Clase (First in Class), where you moved forward by answering correctly the question one of the players would read from the little cards. For some reason, I have never liked to answer the questions (just to ask). π
Different subjects were covered with 3.000 questions (elementary school level).

Conocer Europa may be out of date now, as some changes have happened in the European Union since then... However, we liked this game back in time as it was good to refresh our memory about some countries and cities. There were also cards with questions, depending on which route you chose to go, and by answering correctly, you could roll the dice and move your piece forward.

GeografΓa (Geography), as its name also suggests, is another educational game (it seems we preferred these games over others) to acquire additional knowledge about geography. The game contains several sheets with little holes for the questions and for the answers. To find out whether your answer is correct or not, you have to connect the question and the answer with the little yellow sticks. The yellow box had small lights that would light up if the answer was correct.

When I started to write this post I remembered that there are more games that I forgot to include in the first photo. So, here we have wooden dominoes, four in a line, hangman, guess who, battleship and that little board game with the magnet in the pieces (I don't know its specific name).

Assembling a nice word for this hangman. π

Our latest favourite board game is Sequence. For me, it was the most interesting to play it with my sister, two nieces, my husband and my son. The six of us used to play it in pairs almost every evening while we were visiting our families (during summer).

Sometimes it was played with so much passion and fight who would win... π±π
It was also quite important who would play with whom in pairs. To make it fair, we would write our names on pieces of paper and draw pairs out of a hat. My favorite playmate was my older niece. For this game, it is essential to have a poker face though, but also the skill to read the gestures of your playmate.
We used to make so much noise while playing this game that we would always drive my parents' dog crazy. He would bark at every scream of victory we gave.

What about you? Do you like board games...? Maybe you have a collection of them? Feel free to show us your Board game collection during April, as this is now the new monthly theme in the Hive Collectors Community. π²
