In Japan, we decorate a wreath for New Year. It's made with rice or hemp plant. After I moved to Germany, I miss it for few years. But why don't I make it by myself. Then I made a prototype this morning with German wheat plant.
It's a still rough and simple prototype but not too bad for the first one. I sprayed water on half dried rice plants and tap them with a wooden stick so that they become soft enough to bend.
I got a feedback that I shouldn't play with wheat as it's a kind of symbol in Germany. I'm happy to hear your opinion. As I think about bringing it to market in the end of the year, it should be a happy wreath for everyone.
I'll make some more time by time and brush up the design.

ドイツに住み始めてから、お正月のしめ飾りがほしいなあと思うようになりました。いつも思い出すのは、京都錦市場からのびる細い路地に出るしめ縄飾りのお店の光景です。こんなお店があったら！
ふと思い立って、小麦で作ってみたらそれらしきものができました。まだ穂を柔らかくする加減がこなれていなかったり、よりが甘かったり、全然飾りがついていなかったり・・・と試作品もいいところですが、今年はしめ縄飾りを自分で作れそうと思うととてもうれしいです。
ひとつ気になっているのが、「ドイツでは小麦は大事な作物なので遊ぶべきではない」と指摘を受けました。人によっても違うようでどうなのだろう。
もうちょっと練習して、まわりの人に印象を聞いて、年末にマーケットに持っていけたらと思っています😊
