Every year on the first day of Chaitra Navratri, the festival of Gudi Padwa is celebrated in Maharashtra and the Hindu New Year begins.
Gudi Padwa is an important Hindu festival in Maharashtra. This festival is considered to be the first day of Gudi Padva i.e. New Year in the month of Chaitra according to the Hindu calendar. This festival is celebrated 15 days after the Sharadiya New Year festival.
Gudi Padwa is celebrated with enthusiasm in Maharashtra on the eve of the festival. Where the Gudi is kept at a specified place. The festival of Sharadiya New Year is celebrated on it. Gudhi is a symbol of the festival which serves to convey to the world that such power is the background of all the troubles in our homes and communities.
Gudi Padwa celebrations start at night. People decorate the Devkhandas of their homes and make special sweets. On the day of the festival, all people build Gandhi Toran and Gudi is kept in the gardens of their homes. Gudhis are frames made of various colors and decorated with flowers, sweets and tulsa vessels.
On the day of the festival, people participate in various religious events and dances. Gudi Padwa gives a whole newness, excitement and sense of richness to the festival.
