The fact is that in society today the truth is all too often skewed, bent out of shape, warped and hidden; the media is partly responsible but individual humans do it to themselves and those who they are supposed to love as well, willingly.
Today I thought I'd write a few words I believe to be true and which many people might find hard to accept through ignorance, arrogance or delusion. Society is geared a particular way and values have shifted in directions I feel are unproductive and dangerous but humanity rushes headlong down the slippery slope and towards...I'm not sure what, but nothing good.
- Your material possessions like an expensive phone, vehicle, property, large bank balance or any other item or thing you relate to as your "wealth" are meaningless and valueless if you don't like who you are, don't treat people kindly and with due respect, value relationships more than money and love yourself enough to work towards being as good a person as possible. A person's wealth isn't financial, it goes much deeper than that.
... ... - Change is constant and should be embraced. Bad becomes good and good bad, beauty fades and ugliness transforms; everything changes and life goes on regardless, but change is an opportunity to be jumped upon. A person's major life-goal should not revolve around beautiful, pretty and shiny things, the goal should be to seek a happy and meaningful life, rich and deep relationships and acceptance of oneself; that's a more stable platform to launch from.
... ... - Social media influencers fabricate their lives; they're not real as presented and they make poor role models. The true picture is less perfect, far from perfect, and probably quite broken hence their need for the attention and validation they seek through social media and any scraps of income they earn with their lies and fabrication. It's fictional, their lives and personas, and comparing or modelling one's life after them is never going to lead to happiness. It's time to stop.
... ... - You will not always win, you shouldn't want to, and winning is a concept that most don't understand. So much energy is put into winning but people often choose the wrong things to win at. Win a social media argument with a stranger or win at maintaining one's honour and integrity? Win a job promotion or win at spending valuable time with family nurturing the family unit and relationships? Win at the ability to furnish one's life with more and more material things or win at creating a happy, fulfilled and meaningful life? It's a choice that most get wrong. A winning attitude is essential, but the process of seeking to win should be done with honesty and integrity and not at someone else's expense.
... ... - The fear of missing out is one of the most misunderstood concepts on the planet. Human beings should fear missing out on strengthening their relationships and bonds with loved ones, fear not spending time delving within themselves to seek greater understanding, knowledge and wisdom and should certainly fear not spending time surrounded by nature and being "still" within themselves. The truth is, people fear not being relevant or valid in other people's perception when all along it comes from inside the individual. People fear missing out on the latest consumer goods when they should fear missing out on the opportunity to engage with a dying planet and their own lives
