SUMMARY OF THE LESSONS I LEARNT
Luke 1:35
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
The bible study was centered on the birth of Jesus, the events surrounding his birth and the right time Christ was born..
SOME IMPORTANT POINTS I LEARNT FROM THE STUDY.
_1 Ecclesiastes 7:1
A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth.
This means that,
The birth of Christ was not recorded in the bible. Because the day of ones deathh is better than his birth.
Christ was born in eternity where there is no season or time.So we can't put a date on it.
Theres no date in eternity.
The day of birth in the flesh is not important.
Therefore What we should be celebrating as christians is Christ's dead.
Because it is in his death that the christian race succeeded..His death brought victory.
The triumph of Christ is in his death.
_2 Christ was not born on the 25th of December.
If we look at scriptures, we can say that Christ was born on late September or October
This is because John the Baptit was older than Christ with six months John the Baptist was born sometime in April, so if we count from April, six months will be late September or in the month of October.
-3 On the 25th December AD 274,the Roman Emperor Aurelian made in an official cult alongside the traditional Roman cults.
So it wasn't originally the day That Christ was Born
MY FORMER BELIEVE OR EXPECTATION THAT WAS IMPROVED AFTER LISTENING TO TODAY'S BIBLE STUDY.
I used to think that Christ was born on the 25th of December popularly known as Christmas day.. But now I know that Christ was not born in December but sometime in September or October.
