Doing good to others is one of the most powerful and meaningful things we can do in life. Whether it’s helping a friend in need, giving to the poor, encouraging someone who's down, or even taking care of our own well-being every good act matters. But here's something many of us forget, the chance to do good doesn’t always come often, and when it does, we must not waste it.
The Bible, in Galatians 6:10, encourages us to do good to everyone whenever we get the opportunity. It says:
“As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men.”
Notice the word opportunity.
For example, have you ever planned to visit a sick friend or donate to someone in need, but something kept blocking you? That’s exactly what Apostle Paul experienced. In 1 Thessalonians 2:18, Paul said he wanted to visit the people of Thessalonica, but “Satan hindered us.” This shows that even with good intentions, obstacles both spiritual and physical can stop us.
That’s why the best time to do good is now. Don’t wait till tomorrow. Don’t say, “I’ll help when I have more time” or “I’ll give when I have more money.” If you have the opportunity today, take it.
Imagine seeing a hungry child while walking home. Instead of saying, “I’ll bring food tomorrow,” why not offer something right then and there? That might be the only chance you get.
Any opportunity we see to do good must be treated as a blessing. We might not be opportuned to get the opportunity again.
. So act in love, act in kindness, and act now because anytime you can do good is God’s perfect time.
May the peace of God be with you always
