When you watch movies, you may see situations when bad spirits pursue and capture individuals. Does this imply that Satan or evil spirits can actually physically touch people as they are depicted in movies? Brother Eli answers the question of what the position of the followers of Christ Jesus is in the topic in this brief video lesson using scriptural references.
In the book of 1 John 5:18, it says, "We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not." (KJV)
Those who are born of God are immune to the influence of evil spirits or of Satan and his allies. This implies that satan or other demonic spirits have the ability to influence people who are not born of God.
According to Brother Eli, people born of God and kept by him are those who cannot be touched by the evil one or Satan. By this, I mean the individual who keeps himself from evil- his thoughts, feelings, deeds, personality, interactions with others, and beliefs.
He takes care of himself, he doesn't act carelessly, and because he is a person born of God, he is immune to the influence of bad spirits. If you are a child of God, no evil spirit can touch you or possess you. This also implies that people who are not God's begotten or His children are susceptible to evil's influence.
There may be humans who have been influenced by an evil spirit, but they are not God's children. Sometimes, malicious spirits might manipulate them or even take up residence in them. This is definitely a possibility.
However, it is clearly stated in the Bible that those children of God who believe in God and who serve God in a righteous manner can not be touched by evil or be influenced of evil spirits. On the other hand, individuals who do not serve or believe in God are more open to ty influence of the devil, and may even reside within them. This is known as being "possessed by the devil."
