What makes a true disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ?
According to the English dictionary, a disciple is a person who learns from another, especially one who then teaches others. A disciple is also an active follower.
From the above definition, a true disciple of Christ must be an active follower of the teachings of Christ.
This means that you cannot be a disciple of Christ if you are not taught the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Therefore a true disciple of Christ Jesus must learn, observe, and practice all the teachings and commandments of the Lord Jesus. This means not just hearing but also doing what we are taught.
Acts 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
What we must do as disciples of Christ is to follow all the teachings of Christ, as the church in Antioch did and also make others disciples by teaching them the commandment of God and encouraging them them to practice it and the Lord has promised to be with us alway.
Thank you.
