Bro Eli gave an explanation of the sin Adam committed, which was gotten from Genesis and was followed by 1 John and 1 Timothy. This revealed a misconception that hasnbeen a challenge to the faith.
His emphasis on Genesis chapter 1 verse 31 where God declares that he created everything as very good has been the foundational truth for this misconception.
God's creation and everything in the garden of Eden was perfect and good and meant for the benefit of humanity. This aligned with the Bible scripture. 1 Timothy 4 verse 4 where Paul even affirmed that every creature that God has created is good and we should receive it by the terms given.
But there is an early clarification that sin does not come from the creation of God, but from the mystery of the creation of God. That is where sin came from. For example, read the example of marijuana.
Marijuana can be very beneficial when used properly, but harmful when it is abused. This has given an illustration about how women make their choices. Not the creation by themselves, but how women use what is created. But the early focus on the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that was in the garden of Eden and was pre-repeated by Adam and Eve to eat.
But there was a myth that an apple caused Adam and Eve to fall. The Bible specifies that this tree, not an apple tree to be specific, was the source of transgression. This decision is crucial. And we have to shift our focus as Christians to just thinking about it was just mere fruit that made Adam to sin or causing the act of disobedience.
Referring to 1 John chapter 3 verse 4, what I really want to discuss is that sin is always the disobedience of the law of God. And Adam's sin was his choice to disobey the commandment of God. And which was influenced by Eve. And ultimately, the leader, Satan.
This teaching has a great relation on how we should take personal responsibility. Just as Adam had freedom to enjoy everything in the garden, but still choose to disobey God.We too, we have to face our journeys and how we use the gift of God.
Bro Eli mad an analogy of a doctor advising a patient that is undergoing a heart condition. This highlights God's wisdom and setting our boundaries for the good we do. This made it clear. God's laws are good and protective. And sin arises when we ignore this perspective encouraging us to be grateful for the creation of God.
And visualizing and aligning our actions with God and not disobey His commandment.
