The teachings on our rightful manner of prayers in the church of God is one of utmost importance. Bro Eli Soriano in continuation of explaining the doctrines of prayers to us outlined some necessary approaches to prayers. Some of the outstanding points raised include:
Mark 11:24, When we pray to God, we should believe that what we are asking from God will be given to us. When we believe, we will receive it from God. To have our prayers answered demands faith that the God we are praying to will hear us and grant our desire.
Philippians 4:6, We should pray with plainness of utterance. When we come to God in prayer, there should not be any need of using much words or telling stories. We should only make our request known to Him. God does not need to listen to much rantings and unnecessary stories. Brethren, let us learn to make our request clearly known to God during our prayers.
Luke 18:1, We should pray always, day and night. That means we should not only remember to pray when we are in need or when we have problems. God is our Father and He wants to hear us talk to Him always. Prayer is a way of communicating with God so, we should come to God every time to communicate with Him through prayers. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, the Bible says we should pray without ceasing.
2 Timothy 1:3, A pure conscience is required if we want God to answer our prayers. God will not hear the prayers of the wicked. When we come to God in prayer, we should ensure that our hearts are free or offenses. God will not listen to us if our conscience is defiled. A clean heart is what everyone of us should cultivate if we want God to answer our prayers.
1 Peter 3:7-10, Couples should dwell with each other in understanding and harmony so that God will hear them when they pray. Husbands should respect and honour their wives. Wives should submit to their husbands in all things. If there is no agreement in the home, God will not listen to their prayers.
James 3:6-7, We should keep our tongues from speaking evil. Such a tongue that is full of evil will not allow God to answer us when we pray. Our tongues must be free from defilement.
