Isaiah 1:19 - If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
Isaiah 1:20 - But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
Sometimes we are the greatest enemy to ourselves because what God wants us to do we don't want to do it. It may not be all the time that we pray against our enemies, there are times we may need to pray for ourselves first to enable us exhibit the right attitude especially towards obedience.
If only we can listen to God and heed to His words their are benefits to be experienced by us. But when we decide to turn our backs on God by refusing to obey Him we put ourselves in danger. Obedience is very vital. God so cherishes obedience that when a king in the Bible offered sacrifices to God at the detriment to obeying His word God was sorely displeased.
1 Samuel 15:22
And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
It is important that we understand the importance of obeying God's word and not deviating from it is because when we do so it helps us take the right decisions. When people are aware that when we disobey God that His hand is no longer upon there lives they will refuse to disobey. One of the ways we prevent falling into the hands of the enemy is by obedience to God's will.
