The youthful age is a very crucial time in the life of an individual. It's at the stage in life that we begin to make very important decisions in our lives. One of the decisions we make is the type of people that we keep around us. It is important that we be intentional about this because they can have a serious impact on our lives. A lot of people do certain things not because they want to do it but because of the people around them who encourage and entice them to do so.
One thing about we as youths is that we often entertain fear of rejection, or wanting not to look like the odd person. We feel that engaging in what others are doing would make us feel accepted. But the truth is that at the long run we'll find out that it is not really worth it. A good number of people that ended up in one form of vice or the other are associated to the type of people they go around with.
No wonder we hear of the adage show me your friend and I'll tell you who you are. The time of the youth is a period where a lot of people struggle with peer pressure. It is not a coincidence that it comes during this period. This is the devil's tactic to divert from the Lord's path because he knows we are useful to God the most during this point in our lives.
Ecclesiastes 12:1
Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them
The enemy comes through various means, it can even be through people around us. At such cases what we do to resist the enemy. We make a make when we start considering his terms. We should cut ourselves from vices that would make us compromise our faith.
