Am writing this in response to the question above. A person gets a spirit when he or she receives Jesus Christ as his saviour. On the day of Pentecost said the crowd.
Acts 2:38, "Peter replied, 'Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Being saved is just the first step in your Christian life. There's so much more to being a Christian. Jesus Christ is now living in you and he wants to have a personal relationship with you. For this to happen you have to understand the importance of your human spirit according to the Bible. The Bible mentions the human spirit numerous times. From the very beginning, the Bible reveals God made man with three parts, including a spirit. Genesis 2:7 the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. God formed human physical body with the dust of the ground. Then God breathed into his nostrils and man became a living soul. Which consist of the mind, emotion and will. Our spirit was created by God so their own specific function. Only our spirit has the ability to contact God
John 4:24 "God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.''
In order to contact or worship God, who is spirit, we must use our spirit
One cannot be a believer without the holy spirit. The Bible says a person could not be a believer in Christ without the holy spirit in their life. Paul wrote this to the romans about this important truth.
Romans 8:9, "You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him." For comments or more visit the link below
