If there's one thing that really matters in our walk with God, it's prayer. Not just the kind where we recite a few words and move on with our day, but the kind that draws us close, the kind where we actually feel God near. Real prayer goes beyond just talking to God; it's about being with Him. It’s about letting our hearts connect with His and allowing His presence to fill us from the inside out.
It’s not about handing God a list of things we want. The real beauty of prayer is found in the quiet moments, when we just sit with Him, soak in His love, and allow ourselves to be changed by it. Think of it like a dry sponge in a bowl of water. At first, nothing seems to happen, but the longer it stays, the more it absorbs, until it’s completely full. That’s us, in prayer. The more we linger, the more we take in. We become saturated with His presence.
But some people may often end up discouraged because it takes time. Deep prayer doesn’t usually happen in a hurry. Like anything meaningful in life, it requires effort, intention, and yes, patience. There are times we start to pray, but get distracted or discouraged halfway through. It’s not always because God isn’t doing anything. Sometimes, we just haven’t stayed long enough to notice.
Luke 18:1 –And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint
If there’s one habit worth building, it’s learning to wait in prayer. Patience really does make a difference. It opens the door for us to experience more of God and not just in theory, but in a real, personal way. And when that happens, everything else starts to shift.
