Hello brethren, greetings. I welcome you to my blog once again. I bring you another take from our father, uncle, brother, Eli. This time around, on the topic: What is the right path in the Bible?
This topic is a good one to dive into. Please join me as I share my thoughts and lessons absorbed from this topic taught by our brother Eli. Let us quickly take a look at what the Book of Jeremiah 6:16 says, and I read:
Jeremiah 6:16
Thus salth the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
"This is the word of God, thanks be to God."
Now let's take time and break things down here. Taking a good look at this verse, we can see this is the direct voice or Word of God recorded by Prophet Jeremiah. God speaking through the Prohet saying stand in your ways and see, and ask for the old path, which is the good way, but the people refused to obey the Profect.
The emphasis lies on the phrase "Old Path." What is this old path to which God is referring?
The old path is the good way. This is the way God expects us to be. The way He has designed for everyone to be walking on. And when you're on this road you to do good because it's the path of good.
But the Bible says there are pastors in our time who are like greedy dogs. They are not satisfied with anything they have at hand. They are okay with anything they have. In fact, they can never have enough. These pastors look to their own gain and profit, as the Bible says. They form and invent their own ways for their own gain.
They are always in for profit and gain. They are using religion as a way of generating profit for themselves. They are referred to in the Bible as greedy dogs (Isaiah 56:11). All these things the Bible says are vanity upon vanity. All the silver, gold and money are vanity upon vanity, but this is what some some religious leaders in our time aim for.
They construct ways to get it. These ways include congregations and religions where people worship in a particular manner. There are ways that were invented by people who are not on the old path. There are so many ways through which people are extracting sums of money from people, of which Brother Eli made mention of the existence of about thousands of religions registered with the security and exchange commission in the Philippines alone.
But we have to look for the right way, which is the Old Path the Bible is talking about. The one Jeremiah made mention of to the people.
This old path is one that was ordained by the Lord even before the creation of man. It's just like the train. The railway is created before the train, so the train can freely walk on it. This applies to us as humans. The Lord God created a way for humankind even before the creation of man.
The ways of the Lord are in His commandments. This is the way he has sent us to follow. The Old Path is the Bible and the good news. We are to follow the way of the gospel. If we follow the ways of the commandment, we will start to do good. We would leave every bad thing behind us. No more fornication, stealing, and committing all sorts of sin; we are prohibited too. The Old Path is the right path of the lord. Lets try and be on the old Path so we can see His Goodness and Mercies upon our lives.
