It is safe to say the weather in the UK this week has been dreadful, with two named storms Dudley and Eunice blowing through there has been widespread disruption due to wind blowing down trees and damaging buildings. The Isle of Man even recorded the highest UK Wind Speed recorded at 124 mph.
So far we have avoided snow, but with clear skies some nights it's been very cold, here is a full moon from earlier in the week. Now some might say the wind damage from gale force storms might just be due to tardy Brits building habits, but it is claimed this winter the UK has lost 84,000 healthy long established trees due to being blown over - it takes considerable force to fell an established health tree - you only need to watch a few videos of people trying to pull the things down with 4wd vehicles to realise they are not easily moved.
Between the occasional dry spells when life has been almost quite pleasant - torrential rain driven by strong winds has pretty much tested every possible means for water ingress into a building. While work has held up well mostly, the 30kg roaster ducting has started leaking a little at the joints - the outlet of course has cover over the side grill to release smoke - but the driving wind is forcing water through the grill where the smoke comes out - and that water once in the pipe has some to come out somewhere.
Not exactly fungi weather then, although it would be nice to see some of these excellent examples gain.
And the chickens have mostly been hiding in their huts from the cold and wet weather, even the cockerel would not brave the wind and rain.
The winter will not last forever though, Spring is on the way bring on the mild dry days I say.
