Five years of waiting finally payed off! Yes... five!
I sowed some seeds almost exactly 5 years ago and the biggest cacti decided to bloom this year.
This one here is the only one of the bunch with such massive thorns! It is also one of the biggest. I have no ID for it. It's some sort of Lobivia. Maybe a complete mix, maybe registered name. Doesn't matter. It is a cool one!
I didn't think it will bloom as when most of the cacti was showing some signs of buds, this one was still asleep.
And then it started.... two massive, hairy buds! Yay :D
When those were close to blooming another two showed up and bloomed later on. I didn't shoot those anymore. Just enjoyed the blooms.
Big, bright yellow blooms with delicate petals and bad, plastic smell :p
Not all cacti have a scent, or it is so mild that I cannot detect it. I try to remember to smell them though and this one I did. Nothing special.
The thorns are just so damn nasty though! Repotting this one, or even just moving it around when I clean is a nightmare. I still love it :)
Look at them!

A group shot with orange Chamaecereus and lilac Ice plant.
Pity the blooming season is almost over.
