### It's really happening!
In three days, on July 1, 2021 Phuket opens its gates for international tourism.
Of course not for everyone, only those are allowed to come from countries that have a small or medium risk of covid and only if they have been vaccinated 2 times with Thai approved vaccines, the last vaccination was at least 14 days ago, they have a valid visa and entry permit and have already booked a hotel and a return ticket. A health insurance that covers Covid is of course also required.
This sounds difficult and complicated, but actually it is not.

The embassies and consulates will certainly publish something about the exact procedure in the next few days, but as of today it is applied.
You scan all the required documents:
Passport and other documents for the visa application
the visa application itself
Covid insurance with at least $100,000 coverage
Your vaccination certificate
and send it to as PDF to the embassy.
After the verification of the embassy you have to book a SWHA+ certified hotel and flight, send it to the embassy as well and then just wait for your visa and Certificate of Entry (COE) to be issued.
Then you only have to do a PCR test at least 72 hours before departure and if it is negative and you are not sick you can get on the plane.
After landing at Phuket Airport, there are some procedures to complete. For this, the management of Phuket Airport has created a 7-step picture guide, consisting of 20 images and which I want to post and comment here for simplicity in part.

After your documents have been issued and checked by the Thai embassy of your departure country and then your documents have been checked when you check in at the departure airport, your documents will finally be checked for completeness and accuracy.

Before you get the entry stamp your documents have to be checked.
You will also have to give your fingerprints and be photographed, but that was also the case before Corona.

By the way the 20.000 Baht rule is still up to date. You should carry that much in cash in the currency of your choice. Credit cards do not count...

Now you just collect your luggage, go through customs and immediately go to your room in your hotel until you receive the negative result of the PCR test, the first of 3 that you will have to pass and pay for during the next 2 weeks in Phuket.
In case of a positive test result, you will be taken directly to the hospital by a specially trained hotel manager and your Covid insurance will be used.

Now nothing stands in the way of a very healthy relaxing vacation on the party island. Enjoy.
The bars and clubs are closed but the massage parlors are open and so are some of the attractions. Plus, you can still swim, snorkel and dive.
And if before Corona you thought of the bars more as hookups anyway, just use Tinder or Thaifriendly, but check with your hotel beforehand to see if visits are allowed. That has also changed with Corona, unfortunately.
Enjoy the moment and don't plan too far ahead, because all these great opportunities offered to you in Phuket can be over quickly.
