Urban A few days ago, I decided to take a little walk around Havana. The weather was a bit cloudy, but that didn't stop me from grabbing my phone and motivating myself to take some photos to capture the everyday life on the streets of Havana. The old folks in the neighborhood always said that Havana always has something new to show, and this motivated me to share this small stroll with you.

Hace unos días decidí caminar un poco por La Habana. El tiempo estaba un poco nublado pero eso no impidió que tomara mi celular y me animará a tomar algunas fotos y captar imágenes que podrían mostrar lo cotidiano en las calles habaneras. Los abuelitos del barrio siempre decían que La Habana siempre tiene algo nuevo para mostrar, y me esto me motivó a compartir con ustedes este pequeño paseo.
My journey begins with a quick snap of the Havana Capitol, or well, what I managed to capture of it. I'm a big fan of the shine of the golden dome when the sun hits it, but at that moment, I don't think I was in the perfect position to show it to you. At that very moment, I was passing through Barcelona Street. Every time I pass here, good memories come back, since my high school was very close by. Also, because I always found this street special for sharing the name with my favorite football club. Yes, I'm a Barça fan and I like to suffer. They tell me that very often. But I won't continue with that because this post isn't about sports. 😅

Mi recorrido comienza tirándole una pequeña foto al Capitolio habanero, o bueno, lo que pude capturar de tal. Soy muy fan del brillo de la cúpula dorada cuando le da el sol, pero en ese momento creo que no estaba en la posición perfecta para mostrárselos. En ese mismo instante pasaba por la calle Barcelona. Cada vez que paso por aquí se vienen buenos recuerdos, ya que muy cerquita estaba mi preuniversitario. También porque esa calle siempre la ví especial por llevar el mismo nombre de mi club de fútbol favorito. Sí, soy fan al Barça y me gusta sufrir. Me lo dicen muy seguido. Pero no sigo con esto porque este post no es de deporte. 😅
Next, my destination would be El Paseo del Prado. To get there, I passed by the outskirts of Central Park, which is always, or almost always, full of colorful classic cars and foreigners taking photos.

Luego mi próximo destino sería el Paseo del Prado. Para esto pasé por las afuera del parque central, que siempre o casi siempre está lleno de carros clásicos muy coloridos y de extranjeros tomando fotos.
Arriving at Prado, as we Cubans call it, I took a couple of photos. One of the things I find most fascinating about Prado is its trees, which can make the path more pleasant to look at and also provide shade. I also enjoy seeing the contrast between houses and modern buildings like the hotels around it.

Llegando al Prado, como le decimos aquí los cubanos. Tomé por par de fotos. De las cosas que más me fascina del Prado es sus árboles que pueden hacer el camino un poco más agradable a la vista y también por la sombra que brinda. Al igual que ver en contraste entre casas y edificios modernos como hoteles que hay en sus alrededores.
Continuing my journey, I reached the famous Havana Malecón. Just feeling the sea breaking against the wall and feeling those small drops of saltwater brushing my face brings a big smile to my face. On the way, I took a photo of a fisherman. I was trying to capture the wave breaking on the wall while he was trying to catch a fish for his dinner.

Continuando mi travesía, llegué a el famoso malecón habanero. Solo con sentir el mar rompiendo contra el muro y sentir esas pequeñas gotas de agua salada rozar mi rostro me saca una gran sonrisa. En en camino le tomé una foto a un pescador. Trataba de captar la ola rompiendo en el muro mientras el trataba de alcanzar un pez para su cena.
As I kept walking, I took some photos of the Malecón and its nearby buildings. I love this kind of photo; I even passed by a spot where I saw a huge "Havana" sign that I had never seen before. I don't know if it's new, or if I'm just very distracted and hadn't noticed it was there for a while. If you're from Havana and you've seen it, you can comment if it's been there for long.

Cuando seguí caminando tomé algunas fotos del malecón y sus edificios cercanos. Este tipo de fotos me encanta, incluso pasé por un lugar donde ví un cartel de Habana bien grande que nunca había visto. No sé si es por es nuevo, o si es porque soy muy despistado y no me fijé que llevaba tiempo ahí. Si eres de la Habana y lo viste puede comentarme si lleva mucho.
Another, no less important thing is that I took some photos of El Castillo de la Real Fuerza and also the Morro Castle. I love these types of buildings. I can't help but associate them with corsairs and pirates. Maybe because I'm a big fan of those things.😂

Otra cosa pero no menos importante es que tomé algunas fotos de El Castillo de la Real Fuerza y también es castillo del Morro. Me encantan este tipo de edificaciones. No paro de relacionarlos siempre con corsarios y piratas. Tal vez porque soy muy fan esas cosas.😂
Antes de irme, tomé algunas fotos sentado en el malecón apuntando al mar. Este tipo de fotos me gustan porque las asemejo con cuadros de museos. A veces me gusta tomar fotos que parezcan que puedes ser pinturas de un museo de artes. Donde cada detalle puede ser relevante o deje una opinión y manera de pensar a los que admiran ese arte.
Back at home, I felt very happy looking at the photos I had taken of Havana. I couldn't help but be happy as each photo showed the Cuban spirit, the Havana essence, embedded in every shot. Despite the problems, this shows me how wonderful my city can still be.

Ya de regreso en casa, me sentí muy contento al ver las fotos que había tomado de la Habana. No podía dejar de estar feliz por en cada foto mostrar la cubanía el espíritu habanero impregnado en cada foto. A pesar de los problemas esto me muestra lo maravillosa que todavía puede ser mi ciudad.
