Tops Lookout has always been special to me. It’s where my partner and I rang the “love bell” in 2022. It’s where I’ve come to drink away sorrows and celebrate some of my joys.
Recently, I visited the newly revamped Tops. It’s bigger now. The view is wider and more stunning, thanks to the elevated redesign. You get a full 360-degree panorama of Cebu. It’s a sight to see.
The place has changed. It’s more touristy. Shops, restaurants, and a coffee shop now fill the area. They’re even talking about adding a movie theater. It’s modern, sleek, but feels a bit commercial.
I strolled around on a hot day. The view was amazing. I found a new favorite pizza place. I enjoyed it so much, I forgot to take a video!
But there’s a catch. The old charm is gone. The love bell, once a symbol of personal milestones, is missing. The new Tops feels more like a commercial complex than the beloved lookout that some us very few locals used to love.
Not a big deal though! It's made even better and bigger. It's just that in life, nothing stays and feels the same. But we can't give in to nostalgia...
The view is still breathtaking. The memories linger. Tops Lookout, with all its changes, still holds a special place in my heart. It’s a blend of old and new, where beauty meets nostalgia.
