I haven't been posting for a very long time (except from some drone videos) as overall engagement on Steem was pretty low. Communities may turn that around. I will give it a try at least :-)

I just returned from Gran Canaria, the third islands I've visited on the archipelago. You might have seen some of my posts about Tenerife and Lanzarote and how much I love those islands.
Gran Canaria actually is a bit harder to love. Before showing you the nice sides of the island, let me share with you some pictures of the worst 'Calima' in 40 years. La Calima is a phenomenon when Sahara sand is blown over from the African continent. Visibility is reduced several hundred meters, you're advised not to go out without protecting your face as breathing the tiny particles might cause respiratory problems. Airports all over the Canary islands were closed, it was quite an event.
On the bright side, however, it made for some pretty awesome pictures. Las Palmas, the capital, was swept empty of people like in an apocalypse movie. Take a look:
