Hey there, Hivers! It’s me again, Jera. Back again with another travel blog. Before I bring you to my adventure let me remind you to grab your flip flops and your sense of humor because today, I’m taking you on a wild ride to a spectacular waterfall located in the mountain paradise of Sta. Rosa, Danao City, Cebu! Get ready to laugh, splash, and maybe even slip on some rocks!
It was a sunny Sunday morning when my boyfriend and I decided to go on an adventure. Although we hadn’t planned it out, spontaneity often leads to the best experience. As we set off, we were filled with excitement!
My adventure started with a bumpy ride up to the mountain- I almost thought that we were on a road to a roller coaster! As we climbed higher, I was pretty sure my snack would make an escape attempt, but it held on (thank goodness for clingy chips!) After a bit of singing (mostly me, and trust me, it was not great 😂), we finally arrived at our destination.
We hiked a bit to get closer to the waterfall. Halfway there, I wondered if I should have packed a floatie instead of just snacks! But after a few “are we there yet?” moments, we finally reached our destination.
I took one step too close to the edge, and guess what? SPLASH! I got soaked faster that I could say “Mother Nature, you’re clever one! My boyfriend laughed so hard I thought I would become part of the waterfall folklore 😅.
After my lovely water-skating skills (also known as slipping), we decided to cool off under the cascading water. Let me tell you, the feeling was amazing! We even spotted a few small fish around, probably judging my swimming skills. One fish even swam by and whispered, “Buddy, I think you need swim lesson!” 🥹😂
After all the splashing, we were STARVING! I can really hear my stomach growling. So, we decided to grab our food, spread out our picnic blanket and enjoy eating while sitting next to the waterfall. Now, talk about eating with a view!
Of course, my day would not be complete without taking pictures. Here’s where the fun begins! I whipped my phone’s camera and start channeling my inner professional modelling side 😂. “Let’s take a picture!” I exclaimed, hand on my hip, aiming to strike a pose. As my boyfriend lined up the shot, I realized I might have overestimated my modeling skills. I tried to look natural but ended up with a “caught mid-sneeze” expression. The struggle is real!
We learned easily that taking waterfall pictures required balancing on slippery rocks while pretending we weren’t about to fall. After several takes- capturing our genuine “oops” faces- we FINALLY got a decent and nice shots.
After a few hours of staring and enjoying the view, we dried off and decided to head back. The hike back felt a little easier (maybe because we were filled with snacks?) and course the memories we carried as we are about to go home. We promised ourselves to come back soon-more splashes, laughs, and possibly attempts to becoming waterfall diving pros (LOL)!
So, if you ever find yourself in Danao City, don’t forget to visit this enchanted waterfall. Bring your sense of adventure, a towel (trust me), and prepare for a splash of fun! Until next time, keep exploring and maybe pack an extra pair of pants. Till next time my dear Hivers! 💖💖
