The old Telegraph Track on the Cape York Peninsula is a ruggard rough 4WDing only track, we only did a small section of the track to get to an absolutly beautiful part of the world. Twin Falls, Eliot Falls and Fruitbat Falls! These places do not disappoint in any way, the gorgeous crystal clear water flowing over the jagged rock formations creates the perfect atmosphere for relaxation, swimming and exploring after driving on the rough corrugated and dusty road for 100s of kilometres. We could literally spend weeks here, the kids didn't want to leave! However, to get to the Falls we had to park our caravan at the beginning of the track, unhitch and leave it there while we drove in to explore. The track in had a river crossing, several washed out sections and some of it was quite narrow and bumpy, definitely not a place you would bring a caravan.
Not so long ago it took a lot of courage for our kids to jump off a height into water, I was quite surprised when our eldest asked if he could jump in off the waterfall. So after diving down and testing the depth of the water below we had lots of fun jumping and flipping into the water. Such a great refreshing and super fun way for the kids and us to burn energy after driving for long hours.
On the ruggard road to Cape York there is very little mobile phone reception, there are a few small communities along the way where a little bit of phone service is available. Although this can be daunting for people that are not used to it, especially if there is an emergency situation, for us there is also positive aspect in that it brings back the simple life. Before mobile phones people would travel to see each other, talk face to face, kids and teenagers would ride their bikes down the street and play, while these devices have brought convenience they also come with much distraction and tie us into a network of control. It's always nice to switch them off for awhile and go back to the life before technology.
Who needs a private room, comfy soft rocking chair, with a cloth cover over baby to breastfeed? Definitely not this mumma and bubba, waterfalls and nature is the perfect place for a feed.
