For my project, I am exploring the current uses of gamification in education and training. I have been a game enthusiast for years and believe it has value in education. However, much of the focus of the research is on the increased engagement from students and higher performance scores. Both of these are extremely important, but I believe we also need to focus on the improvement in cooperation and also be sure we are addressing the anxiety and disinterest that comes from some students in competitive situations. I'm sharing a TedTalk from Scott
Herbert, who is an award-winning science teacher on the subject. He makes some great points in the TedTalk regarding the engagement factor of gamification.
