I am Haumea.
I am a dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt.
My name was given in 2008.
I was named by IAU (after disputed discovery by Mike Brown's team in 2004 and José Luis Ortiz's team in 2005).
My name came about using Hawaiian mythology due to observation from a Hawaii-based telescope, resolving a naming dispute.
My name means Hawaiian goddess of fertility and childbirth.
An interesting fact is Haumea has a unique elongated, egg-like shape from rapid rotation and two moons named after the goddess's daughters; the name reflects cultural ties to the discovery site.
