It's time for another CCC Street Art Contest again. By now it's number 86, and there are way more invitees than I'd like to count. As for me? Haha, I don't even feel like I have anything worthy to submit. But that may all be just relative.
Both Mexico City and Los Angeles are veritable gold mines for the most amazing street art. Their murals surpass anything else I've seen in quantity as well as quality. And even though I am literally just outside L.A., this little mountain town of Crestline doesn't have too much to offer, at least in terms of murals.
Not Much Is Still More Than Nothing
Saying that there are no murals here is not true, as there clearly are. Of course they can't be compared to the ones just an hour or two from here, but hey, they are not that bad either. As expected, they have more to do with what this place has to offer: hiking, climbing, mountain biking, that sort of thing. And since the few wall paintings are not enough to start its own series, I will simply put them into the Murals of the Angels collection. After all, there are already some murals from Palm Springs and Albuquerque, New Mexico in it!
Biking Over Rectangles
So here it is: A nicely stylized, silhouetted MTB enthusiast riding through the forest of somewhere around Crestline. Great! There really is not much more to say about this... except for the rectangles. The surface style of the wall where this mural was painted on, gives it inadvertantly a very interesting feel. In fact, the more I look at it, the more I like it!
Painted By Genesis
On this mural you can't even see an artist's tag at the bottom. Usually I like to mention the creator of the piece I'm posting about, but I tend to have a hard time deciphering their name to put into the websearch. In this case, however, things were made much easier. Instead of an illegible tag I saw GenesisMuralCo written in almost printed letters at the bottom. I ran a search, and discovered that it's a local, family owned mural company. Whether it's mom-and-pop or sis-n-bro we'll never know, until someone commissions a mural, I guess. Their site is worth visiting though. You'll see this mountain biker there, as well as the other two murals I am going to use in the subsequent Street Art Contests. Spoiler!
