Hello and welcome back to my blog!

It has been some time since I played theHunter: Call of the Wild. The last time, I was checking out the new DLC map, Askiy Ridge Hunting Preserve, based on Alberta, Canada. This map introduces a lot of new bird and animal species, and I still haven’t encountered all of them. It’s a visually beautiful map as well, filled with snowcapped mountains and forests.
I’ll try to show you its beauty through this post, and what better way than to climb one of the hills and show you the views?
It wasn’t an easy climb. Finding a non-slippery path was tough. Those small rocks on the path usually mean you can climb from there, but they were scattered on every side of the mountain.
The views got better as I climbed higher and higher. Look at that peak!
I didn’t find any signs of animal activity here. Sometimes there are mountain goats, but not this time. Maybe they were avoiding this challenge, too. Only I was stupid enough to take the risk and go higher, just for some cool shots.
This ridgeline was the highest point on this peak. On both sides was certain death if I slipped.
You could see a 360-degree view from here. It looked like I was on top of the world. Some of the other high peaks looked tiny from up here.
Even the clouds were struggling to cross these massive mountains. I love mountains in real life too, and hiking these peaks gives me immense pleasure. I’ve hiked a few before, and the experience is always thrilling.
But I’ve never done one thing: jump from the top of a mountain, lol. That was going to change today. I looked for a good spot to jump—and I was in the air for a couple of seconds before hitting the side of the mountain and dying. At least I captured one more image! And hey, it was a quicker way to get down, lol.
It was time to get serious and start looking for some animals. A good way is to find a big body of water—there’s a good chance you’ll see some thirsty animals around.
You’re never too far away from water in this game. I found a big lake that wasn’t frozen.
I even saw a couple of moose on the far side, but by the time I got closer, they were already moving away. Their drinking time was over.
That lake was connected to a small stream. I followed it, hoping to find something. But I only saw a couple of birds flying far away, too far to even try shooting.
I kept searching and soon found a new outpost. I liked its design—and the thick layer of snow on the roof looked great.
I went back to the lake to see if any other animals had arrived. There was some movement. It was a small group of Bighorn Sheep. These aren’t exclusive to this reserve—I’ve hunted many of them in Silver Ridge Peaks before.
I was able to shoot down one female. The others just flew off.
I love the hunting structures here. They’re very small—like an old telephone booth—with glass windows on three sides and one large opening to shoot through. The cramped space makes it a bit hard to hunt from, but it looks adorable.
This window looks like a picture on the wall...right?
Later, I killed a black bear with my rifle. All it took was a clean shot to the left lung.
It was just a female, but I liked how the carcass looked like it was sinking into the fresh snow. It made the whole scene feel more realistic. This is the best snow map in the game now. The way snow interacts with animal fur, tree leaves, the ground, and outposts is impressive.
I’ll leave you with the last shot. This one’s my favourite, let me know which one was yours among all the ones I shared today.
