Hello everyone,
I hope you all are in good health. And I am back again on Day3 of not having anything important to share or do. Well, I kinda have a project to finish but I already spent around 10Hrs today sitting on my ass and working around the project. And I am happy to say that after spending weeks on it I think I see the finish line for this project. I won’t bore you with the detail, hell even my project manager doesn't care about the details. To put it in his words, “Just call me when the job is done. I leave the rest to you.”
Anyway, I decided to take a break from staring at the screen and working on a plan for the next step to the project and going to staring at the screen and thinking what to write. So instead I am going to share an office incident. Because even though I am sitting at home on my bed and writing this post on my laptop, my brain is still in the office working around the problem. Alright, I am going to share the story, and please do not judge me for who I was then. My total job experience is amounting to 10years now. Which I think is good. And there were good, bad, and ugly days on the Job. But this particular day is to remember.
So, I got the job. Even though it was not that high paying. A job is still a job and much better than sitting in a room somewhere in Vandalur (Chennai Outskrit’s Outskirt) and watching the rerun of the MasterChef. I didn’t even know where the kitchen was back then even though I was already staying in that house for 4months. Yes, I was that dude who came in for a few days but decided never to move out. Actually, I was a super-lazy back then (now I am just lazy). The Job happens to be on the far end of the city and that requires me to change bus at a Stop. So, I was very excited and decided to throw a party for my roomies with whatever money was left with me. And my good friends who were very supportive also joined in my happiness. It was a fun party. The problem was the alcohol, I was broke so that meant cheap liquor.. (Oh!! Shutup. Like you never tried that local stuff. You probably didn’t What the hell is this doing in the middle of the storytelling... Don't worry I will get it during the editing.)
We were drinking, talking about the movies. Meanwhile, the TV was still playing MasterChef. I don't know it was like Star World ran out of Ideas and started telecasting MasterChef 50% of the time, the rest of everything belongs to some crime shows and stupid ads. That party and company were fun. And we enjoyed the time. No dancing or singing. I don’t know people assume that bachelors when they party sing loudly and dance badly. We weren’t the singing or dancing type. We were the laughing type. We were ‘lmao’ing all night.
Next comes the Joining day. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that the cheap liquor, has a very unique quality. They are bad and the hangover is worse. But since it was a big day for me. I got up, freshen up. And started hauling ass, You don’t want to be late on day one. I got on the bus and brought something call a day-bus pass. Which allows you to travel any number of buses within the city limit any number of times before the day ends. Since I had to change buses and I plan on returning back also it made sense to buy the bus pass. Since I was early I got the window seat, very nice breezy. I plugged in my earphone and started enjoying my playlist.
I must have dozed off because I woke when the bus sped over a series of speedbumps. (when will people understand that speedbumps are there for a reason). I would have enjoyed the lovely view if I wasn’t traveling in the wrong direction. In the excitement and hangover, I never check the bus number and got in. Yes, I got on the bus to Porur instead of Tambaram. And to add to injury there was no bus from Porur to my destination. So my first day at work was me showing up 2hrs late and getting an hr long talk from TL.
I am inuke.
And you would think that I learned my lesson, But you are wrong. A few days later I made the same mistake, But this time all sober and after reading the Bus Number. I read 5A as A5. What an Idiot!!!
