Un flagelo que ha diezmado a la humanidad desde tiempos remotos.
Clima y sobrepoblación, parecen ser las causas del hambre en el pasado. Sequías, inundaciones o plagas, ocasionaban que mermara o desaparecía la comida suficiente para alimentar a un grupo determinado de humanos.
El relato bíblico de Jose y sus hermanos, los hijos de Abraham, y como terminaron en Egipto, es una historia donde podemos apreciar las consecuencias, pues las causas parecen no estar muy claras. El caso es que los pastores recurrieron al imperio agrícola egipcio y terminaron esclavizados durante varios siglos.
A lo largo de la historia conocida del hombre, las hambrunas se han presentado con mucha frecuencia y cuando no fue el clima u otras causas naturales, fue provocada por la guerra, que unas veces fue causa y otras consecuencia.
Desde que en el siglo XX los avances científicos y tecnológicos lograron optimizar la agricultura mediante la mecanización y el empleo de abonos sintetizados químicamente, el planeta produce el alimento suficiente para toda la población, pero la distribución desigual ocasiona que en muchos lugares, las personas padezcan hambre.
Desde un punto de vista estadístico, el problema del hambre se ha reducido notablemente, pero de poco le sirve a los que continúan padeciéndola. Cada individuo que la padece tratara de resolver su necesidad, satisfaciendo su necesidad y la de su familia, para luego considerar la carencia de los demás.
Organizaciones internacionales que trabajan la lucha contra el hambre desde hace décadas, no parece que estén cerca de ganarle, salvo puntuales batallas y es como los que luchan contra la guerra, llevan en su concepción inscrito el fracaso, pues de triunfar desaparecerían por haber cumplido con su objetivo y ser innecesarias.
En mi consideración deberíamos plantear el problema en forma diferente, no debemos luchar contra nada, debemos sembrar y motivar a sembrar a quienes tienen necesidad de alimentos. Seguramente si pudiéramos sembrar paz, cosecharíamos toda clase de frutos beneficiosos y nutritivos.
La guerra principal aliado del hambre, se sostienen mutuamente, como parte del sistema económico mundial basado en fomentar la escasez y la especulación. Generando beneficios a partir de la destrucción, mediante créditos de recuperación e intereses.
La solución global pasa por eliminar las causas, que pueden ser distintas en cada lugar y momento; la guerra en unos, la sequía en otros, falta fertilizantes y quién sabe cuantos más problemas puntuales generan hambre. Distribución desigual, pobreza.
Muchos de estos problemas se pueden gestionar a través de la educación, pues como bien dice el amigo @acont, que gentilmente me invito a participar en esta iniciativa, quien aprendió a pescar, comerá pescado toda la vida. Salvo que le prohíban pescar o que se terminen los peces en el mar, lo cual parece posible si continuamos contaminando.

Mi experiencia personal más cercana con el hambre aconteció en Venezuela entre los años 2014 al 2017, cuando sufrimos escasez de todo. Y llegamos a padecer colas interminables para comprar alimentos, recurrimos a viejas prácticas ya en desuso, como moler maíz en las casas o comprárselo molido a quien disponía de molino. Fueron muchas las personas que improvisaron molinos manuales, adaptándoles motores, muchas veces de lavadoras, para emprender un negocio de venta de masa de maíz cocido para preparar la tradicional arepa.
En nuestra casa usábamos un molino que nos prestaba el vecino. Afortunadamente, pertenecíamos a una comunidad solidaria en donde nos apoyábamos mutuamente. También pusimos otras iniciativas en marcha, como sembrar yuca y auyama en el patio, además de criar pollos y patos en un corral improvisado. Aprendimos a consumir verdolaga y pira, hierbas silvestres que crecen en patios y terrenos baldíos.
Cuando se suspendió el suministro de gas licuado doméstico, nos vimos en la necesidad de cocinar con leña. En principio sobre tres piedras, hasta que armamos un fogón en el patio, cuando dejaron de funcionar el horno de microondas y una parrillera eléctrica que termino quemándose de hacer café sobre su resistencia.
Como dicen, la necesidad es la madre del ingenio. Y en mi caso, me resultó sorprendente que desapareciera el jabón, por lo que en 2014 me inicié en el arte del jabón artesanal, y durante un tiempo fue un trabajo que me permitió alimentar a mi familia. A diez años vista es más una afición, que un negocio rentable, pero en cualquier momento se puede volver a convertir en una actividad rentable.
El tema es demasiado complejo para cubrirlo en una publicación y el problema de difícil solución. Espero haber contribuido en algo al compartir mi experiencia y punto de vista.

My closest personal experience with hunger occurred in Venezuela between 2014 and 2017, when we suffered from shortages of everything. And we ended up having to endure endless lines to buy food, we resorted to old practices that were no longer in use, such as grinding corn at home or buying it ground from someone who had a mill. There were many people who improvised manual mills, adapting motors, often from washing machines, to start a business selling cooked corn dough to prepare the traditional arepa.
In our house we used a mill that the neighbor lent us. Fortunately, we belonged to a supportive community where we supported each other. We also launched other initiatives, such as planting yucca and pumpkin in the yard, as well as raising chickens and ducks in a makeshift corral. We learned to consume purslane and pyra, wild herbs that grow in patios and vacant lots.
When the supply of domestic liquefied gas was suspended, we found ourselves in the need to cook with firewood. Initially on three stones, until we built a stove in the patio, when the microwave oven and an electric grill stopped working and ended up burning from making coffee on its resistance.
As they say, necessity is the mother of ingenuity. And in my case, it was surprising to me that soap disappeared, so in 2014 I started in the art of handmade soap, and for a time it was a job that allowed me to feed my family. Ten years from now it is more of a hobby than a profitable business, but at any time it can become a profitable activity again.
